Sivan Askayo | Her Life In The Big City

It’s no secret that I’m a bit obsessed when it comes to NYC.
Lately I discovered a Hebrew friendly blog, 56 and Broadway, by an Israeli, aka Sivan Askayo, who lives there and shares bits of her life. I can’t tell you how much I love and wait for each post who is full with little stories that she writes with her special charm.
The most exciting thing is that Sivan is also a gifted photographer and her NYC photographs keeps me day dreaming of all those treasured and joyful spots…

Shimrit Hamsi | Yummy

This one is hilarious! For all of you who don’t have baking skills… like me ;)
“I guess it all started when i visited too many gallerys and bought all kinds of cake stands but they always stood empty and lonely without a cake to keep them warm… so i thought maybe i would bake a cake one of these days, but that day never came since i’m not much of a baker… and so i gave up the idea of making a real cake and started looking for unedible cakes to put on my stands all year long.”
You can have your own cupcake at Shimrit’s Etsy shop.

Jenny Meilihove | Tiny People

Jenny has the magic touch.
If her name rings any bells you’ll remember that I wrote about her portraits a while back.
Today I stumbled upon her “Toys Dreams” Etsy shop. Her dolls are as cute as it can get! Each doll is one of a kind and handmade by the magic hands of miss Jenny.

Alon Dodo | Light Wood

Alon Dodo’s work is one of a kind.
“Alon believes in the pure beauty of the wood and lets it speak for itself. He likes to combine chaos and symmetric forms together.”
Head to his wood kingdom.

Senseware | Fiber Crush

  • Nendo | Asahi Kasei Fibers Corporation | Blown Fabric
  • MintDesigns| Asahi Kasei Fibers Corporation | To Be Someone
  • Design Company Panasonic Corporation | Teijin Ltd. | Fukitorimushi
  • Antonio Citterio | Asahi Kasei Corporation | Moshi Moshi
This one is a little different.
Usually when I really want to visit a high profile exhibition I have to book a ticket to NYC or London. This time all I needed to do was to hop into my car and after no more than fifteen minute be a part of the Senseware’s white world.
As a designer, I really appreciate white space and there is no secret that the Japaneses really know how to rock white from head to toe.
The fact that it all happened to me in my home town Holon made it ever more special to me. Thank you dear Holon Design Museum for all this joy!

Student Break | Lihi Laskar-Dangoor | Step by Step

How do you wear your shoes?
I find Lihi’s way refreshing and intriguing.
“The shoes series was created while observing the evolution and structures I found in nature, while focusing on phenomenon that join different layers and pieces and construct a single whole. The research led me to translate the accumulating layers into a series of gradual steps that assemble different parts to its final form.”
Lihi is a 2010 Graduate of the Jewelry and Fashion Department of Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.
