Happy New Year, Breakers!

In a few hours we will be celebrating the beginning of the Jewish New Year. Around here, we call it Rosh Hashanah.
May this year be one to remember. Full of colors, shoes and a sea of accessories :)

Student Break | Lee Oshrat | The Almighty Rubber Band

Improvisation. There is something quite Israeli within this word. While visiting the MA graduates show of Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Lee Oshrat’s “Improvisation” was one of those projects that stayed with me once I left the gallery. The common office rubber band was the base for a series of five flexible connectors. Lee asked herself questions regarding the relationships between people and objects and the outcome is a garden of improvised, miss matched beauties!
BTW, “Alteration” is this year’s theme.

Stella and Lori | A Tale of Two Granddaughters

Stella and Lori are two lucky ladies. Their granddaughters named their brand new creation after them. How sweet is that?! Vered Blank-Grizim and Zohar Blank-Kama made me think about my wallet. What do I look for in a wallet?
I guess color, texture and size (in my case the bigger the better) play a huge role. Seeing the sister’s range of colors made me fall even harder. Did anyone mention a new wallet for the new year? Yep, the Jewish new year is just around the corner…
Head to the girl’s Etsy Shop, I have a hunch you won’t leave empty handed ;)
Happy Monday lovely breakers!

ABRAMEY | Noa Levy-Aran | Shoes. Full Stop.

If there is one thing that can lift my spirit after this horrible day is shoes.
Noa Levy-Aran and her “Sheyni Shoes” made me feel much better! In fact, so much better that I can’t even think straight, I love each and every color combination.

On a side note, I met a special friend on my twittery journey. Her name is Tilda but you might know her as Madame Hervé. As I promised her, I’m dedicating this shoe post to her, since we share a big love for shoes.
Here’s to twitter friends and shoe posts!

A Day From Hell…

I’ve been experiencing a panic attack earlier today when my DesignBreak was violated by a hacker and let me tell you something, it WASN’T fun!
After many hours I can finally breath again. Sorry about this mess and I promise to make it up!

Student Break | Rotem Wilk | Knitted Snow White’s Gown

Rotem Wilk’s graduation project at the Textile Design Department of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design is pure genius. Rotem began her journey by researching spiral structures first in nature and then she focused on Zaha Hadid‘s architectural structures. Movement, transparency and geometrical shapes where the foundation of her research and the final outcome is breathtaking knitted perfection. While trying to figure out which pictures to show, all I could think about was this is exactly how Snow White’s ball gown would look like!

Ran Seri | Branched Out

I’m not really sure where I first stumbled upon Ran Seri’s designs but I sure am glad I did! It’s such an awesome feeling to find amazing Israeli artists who ended up living their dream outside of our tiny country. I’ll be following Ran’s journey from now on but until then I had to share with you his “Why Not”, coat hangers. There is something quite brilliant in this particular design, so smart and fun!
To be continued…

Student Break | Dana Bachar | Feel Your Felt

Felt. I’m starting to have an instant crush for just about any felt related design. It’s kinda insane but at least I’m aware of it. They say it’s the first step to admit it, right?
Dana Bachar, a 2011 graduate of the Industrial Design Department at the Holon Institute of Technology, designed a series of light fixtures that won me over in a heart beat. The shape, the colors and most importantly the felt are a mixture of perfection.
I’d love to hear about your favorite material if there is such a thing in your vocabulary ;)

Sivan Royz | Blooming Structures at Dezeen Space

As we speak Sivan Royz is showcasing her “Blooming Structures” at the Dezeen Space‘s month-long residency in Shoreditch.
I’m SO excited for this sweet and so talented young designer.
If you happen to be in London today, you should visit. There is nothing like experiencing Sivan’s drop dead gorgeous accessories in person.
Go team Royz!

Sharon Vaizer | Plasticious Creatures

Does the name Sharon Vaizer ring any bells? If not, it means you are a new breaker, so welcome aboard :)
Anyways, since graduating from design school back in 2009, Sharon took her graduation project, FUN-ta-sea, to the next level.
Her collection is plastic perfection!
If you ask me, any piece is a definite show stopper.
Just the other day I had the pleasure of trying it on, and boy do I LOVE it all.
Life under the sea never looked so friendly before.

Kobi Perez | The Dearest Deer

Apparently, Kobi Perez has a thing for animals, their bones and lately for their upper body aka their heads. Say hello to Vincent, the black deer and to Bruce, the… I’m pretty sure is some other kind of deer… (I’m not really that familiar with the details). I think those brooches will be a huge success around hunting season, whenever that is or, it can be transformed to an honorary medal for those, who protect the four legged creatures.

Latika Soap | Mazzi Peled | Yummy Bubbles

Since coming back from my dreamy vacation I’m on a diet. There is no other option.
So, when Natasha Haimovich introduced me to these yummy treats I was SO happy to realize that they are made out of soap. Yep, you read it right, soaps! Mazzi Peled, the lady behind it all, is my sweet-tooth fairy!

  • Chika Bag | Diesel Brown
  • Baki Bag | Stoned Brown.Dark Brown
  • Yona Bag | Black.Mokolato Black
  • Chika Bag | Red.Natural Anaconda Print | Limited Edition
Well hello there, Einat Skalski! We share the same name but… oh boy, do I wish we could share the same day job. A girl can dream…
With her impeccable eye for the smallest details, Einat keeps her eye on the prize! Without giving into the latest trends, she follows her own voice.
Here is a glimpse into “Hunter”, her 2012 Fall/Winter Collection, but that doesn’t mean that I’m ready for winter to arrive!

Michal Oren | A Dash of Red Cuteness

  • Gold Cherry Ring
  • Gold Cherry Necklace
  • Golden Ladybug Necklace
  • Golden Ladybug Ring
The way I see it, the best things in life come in small packages and this time is no exception.
How sweet is the tiny cheery? and don’t let me start gashing about the cutie ladybug. Normally I’m all about larger than life accessories but sometimes all you need is a dash of red cuteness. I have a feeling that you are on board with me on this one ;) The only thing is, I can’t decide whether to go with the ring or the necklace.
FYI, Amalia Boutique, the site which is responsible for all this beauty, is coming your way straight from Tel Aviv with the latest Israeli creations. SO happy I discovered this goldmine :)

Michal Ben Ami | Enamel Crush

When I first wrote about Michal Ben Ami, I didn’t know I’m gonna become one of her biggest fans. Well, to be honest, I had a hunch but… Since I first purchased her turquoise Bally enamel earrings, I keep receiving countless compliments. I guess that’s why I’ve been wearing them practically every day, for the past
month :)
Michal’s new collection comes with new combinations of colors and shapes.
I think I should consider adding some new Ballys to my collection!
Head to Michal’s facebook page for a colorful treat.
