Naama Hofman | The Game of Light
Seeing Naama Hofman’s light objects (as she refers to them) I couldn’t help thinking of the Star Wars’ Lightsaber… Do you see it, or is it just me?
I guess having a husband who loves all things “Star Wars” has something to do with it ;)
In her 005 Collection, Hila used glass, acrylic tube and LED light for creating four different creatures. These objects feel at times 2D objects rather than 3D… and I have a feeling that’s what makes me love them so much… What can I say, I’m a 2D girl!

World Break | L’Accent Nou | A Stroll on the Beach
I can’t take this weather any more! It’s SO cold and dark that I can’t even hear myself think. Well, it’s not NY by any means but for Israel it’s damn cold.
And when it’s cold all that is left to do is think about a sunny day at the beach. I have a feeling that’s why I found myself wandering into Anastasia Egórova‘s L’Accent Nou natural haven. There is something quite calming and comforting about the fact that all Anastasia’s creations come from the beautiful Mallorca island in Spain. BTW, the fact that Anastasia followed her heart and left Russia for her man is extra beautiful…

UTEdesign | Color Blocks
I can’t remember when was the last time I wrote about something that has something to do with babies… Well, it’s not that I’m against it, it’s just that I prefer writing about real grown up accessories ;)
I guess there is always an exception. When I bumped into UTE‘s colorful world, at first, I couldn’t tell it was a diaper bag.
The colors, prints and the overall vibe screamed style! The two lady mamas behind this super stylish brand are Eti Nevot and Tal Ben-Ari. Oh, and just one more thing, I’m loving the yellowish logo. SO ca-yute!

The Beauty of Still Life Shoes
  • By Liebling
  • By Michal Miller
  • By Myka
  • By Shani Bar
  • By Una Una
My kind of event is happening this weekend. A two days event dedicated to shoes. That’s right, a sea of shoes
For some reason it feels like a graduation reunion of all my favorite Israeli designers. Liebling, MYKA, Una Una, Shani Bar, Michal Miller and many many more are gonna be waiting for all the shoe lovers out there… I wish you all could be here! There is so much talent there and I can’t wait to discover which pair will find it’s way to my own shoe kingdom.
BTW, The reason I wanted to write this post is the beautiful pictures of the mega talented photographer Yanai Yechiel so I guess I should have started with him…

NY Break | Allison Patrick | Typographic Light
Did you see my NY Break? It’s been way too long so the minute I stumbled upon Allison Patrick’s rad lighting pendant lamps, I knew it was time to have some extra delicious New York flavor around here. It feels like Allison gives the term “crafty person” a new meaning. She is crazy talented and her lamps are so pretty! I’m sure there are piles and piles of new designs over there just waiting to come out.
BTW, you can read an interview with Allison right here or even visit her blog right here.
Just one more thing, the name behind it all is Zipper8Lighting, that’s right Zipper8Lighting, start memorizing it ;)

Is it normal to have a designer crush…? Either way, the honest truth is I’m obsessed with Shani Bar’s shoes since day one! There is no nicer or gentler way to say it and my multiple posts can back me up! The way Shani grows her business with her own two hands and the help of her loving partner is inspiring. The best part is she doesn’t even think about slowing down. With a brand new store in Berlin, I’m sure you’re gonna run into some more of them around the world in no time.
I can go on and on but I better leave the talking for sweet Shani.
So… here we go!

Can you describe your work process for me?
It all began in a small studio in my old apartment after I graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. I was creating my first collection and doing all the manufacturing by my myself. It was a wonderful experience in which I learned a lot about shoe making.
The reaction from people was amazing and so I decided to start my own shoe line professionally.

Which materials do you work with?
I mainly work with leather materials. It’s my favorite and it doesn’t stop surprising me with It’s ability to change and take new forms.ShaniBar
What is the most unusual piece you have ever designed?
I designed a shoe for an art expo. The inspiration for it came from the world of carnivorous plants.
The name of the piece was called “Venus trap”. the shoe is divided into two parts, in the front it’s a simple pump in nude color, and in the back the form continues into a shape of a deep red flower that seduces the feet to get inside the shoe. When the foot slides in the shoe transforms it shape.

Studio Ve | Time is Money
Do you remember My last post regarding Shay Carmon and Ben Klinger’s Manifold Clock? Anyways, these two energizers, also known as “Studio Ve” worked real hard on improving their creation and transformed their initial concept into a living and breathing 3D clock. The only thing that separates them from mass production is a tiny fortune. SO, if you want to give them a hand, head to their kickstarter campaign and show them the money! ;)
I’m sure you gonna feel good about it.

Bakery | Share Your Heart
And then they became two…
The Bakery bunch used to be a threesome but lately Gil Sheffi decided to begin his own journey and the other two Gilli Kuchik and Ran Amitai are keeping the torch alive!
The two creative lovebirds (yes, they are a couple in real life as well) created the Shares Necklace. “It’s a necklace you can share with your loved one. The necklace looks beautiful as a whole and as a half allowing you to enjoy it before and after you find your other half.” Just like when we gave our childhood boyfriend a little heart charm… I guess someone is ready for valentine ;)

Nuki Sigura | Royal Gold
While discovering Mika Barr’s 3D folding pillows early this week I also had the great pleasure of finding the latest creation of one of my all time favorite jewelry designers, Nuki Sigura.
Nuki’s Royal Family for Talents Design is a three pieces set of serving trays.
Talking about being glamorous and sophisticated while hosting… Well, I’m sure not royalty by any means, but I don’t mind feeling like it for a day ;)
Oh, just one more thing this creation is coated in 14K gold. OH.Em.Gee!

Leetal Rivlin | To Sand or Not to Sand
I was one of those children that you had to drag out of the beach. I used to play with the sand for hours, building castles and other magical creations. I even remember crying my eyes out when the bloody wave ruined it all in a split of a second. To keep a long story short, all those memories came back the minute I stumbled upon Leetal Rivlin’s sand bowl. Such a simple yet brilliant idea! I love the way Leetal froze the sand’s movement… I feel like heading to the beach, collecting some sand and having a sand party at home.

World Break | Iris Tsante | Mad About Pencils
We all need a dash of bright color in our lives. Iris Tsante is the one responsible for making my day a little more bright and colorful in the middle of this extra gray day. Her pencil jewelery are a breath of fresh air in this dreadful winter! I’m sure you all agree with me.
-
Another bright light is Mr. Color himself aka Brad Goreski. Brad even has his own trade mark slogan named “POC”. If you ask yourself what does #POC stands for, the right answer is clearly “Pop of Color” ;)

Hadar Reuven | Welcome to the Dark Side
You probably remember Hadar Reuven from our January, Illustrated Break. Right?
Anyways, lately I discovered her illustrated Andromeda Sleeps. Well, to be honest, Hadar told me about it but either way it’s breathtaking! Trust me, this illustrated novel is one of those books that moves something inside you. It feels like a journey into the dark side and for some reason I can relate. Hadar with the help of Shachar Galek (the author) made the city life look SO damn lonely, scary and intense… If you want to own your own copy, you can!

Goldfish | A Whoolish Statement
I meant to write about the Goldfish scarfs today and just before hitting the publish bottom I discovered that the ladies of Dreed*Tea blog are having a giveaway of one of the Goldfish scarfs. So I thought to my self, why not kill two accessorized birds in one post? Goldfish is the woolish child of Shira Paz and Sharon Goldman who created some kind of scarf slash statement necklace. And you know me, I’m down with any scarf or any other statement piece any day of the week.
BTW, how beautiful is Daina of the Dreed*Tea bunch?

Student Break | Yevgeni Krachak | Home and Away
When it’s cold and rainy outside, all I want to do is crawl under my duvet. For some reason Yevgeni Krachak’s Homeless animation feels like a good fit. His little creature is searching for a proper home and it’s adorable face expressions make me want to adopt him. I know, I know it’s only an animation… I’m having hard time separating fiction and real life ;)
BTW, Yevgeni is a third year student at the Screen-Based Arts Department at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.
