Can you imagine your close family and friends as little miniatures?
I certainly can!
Well, Keren Rosen took it up a notch and actually made an army of little minis. I love the fact that she tried to capture their spirit and personality by adding just a dash of color.
Keren is one of those people who likes to keep themselves busy at all times and beside her daily work as an industrial designer, she sketches… like EVERY DAY kind of thing and even has time for other side projects. I don’t know what about you but I feel like I have to step up my game… ;)

World Break | Giia | Felted Joy
Giia aka Guldal Aydinli is a woman of many wonders. She is a furniture and interior designer by day and a wicked felt designer 24/7. As I made my frequent visit to her Etsy Shop I discovered her STUNNING felted rings and oh my lord of the rings, I need each and every one of these rings!
Oh, and there is some rad neck pieces like this yellow bundle of joy ;)

Ola Liola | Expressing Emotions through Color
I’ve been meaning to write about Ola Liola’s colorful world for a while…
This is one of those moments where I want to kick myself. Why did it take me so long?!
Anyways, when seeing Ola’s illustrations for the first time, the only thing I could think of was how amazing it would be to experience the world of Alice in wonderland from cover to finish with Ola’s dreamy touch… Yep, I think it would be a once in a life time experience. But, until Ola adopts this brilliant idea I’ll keep on dreaming about asking her to participate in my Illustrated Break

Liora Taragan | Parrot Bling
I don’t know what it is with me and feathers. I keep coming back to them whenever a jewelry piece is involved and I can’t be any happier!
SO, finding out about Liora Taragan’s Feathers Collection, made it crystal clear to me, feathers are my new everything!
I have to add that there is a lot more to Liora Taragan, in fact she is a heck of a fashion designer and you can read a bit more about her right here.
If you don’t mind, I’ll keep on drooling for a bit…

Noga Berman | Shiny Happy Mini Creatures
When your parents go by the name Nirit and Avi Berman, aka the famous jeweler couple, there is no escaping your heritage. While studying industrial design, Noga Berman clearly had a strong attraction to the tiny and shiny little parts in her life. Her brand new NAIVE is a series of sterling silver lapel brooches of these cute little figures. Who doesn’t need a dash of cuteness in his jewelry box? I can certainly use some ;)

World Break | HiNGE Dept. | Liisa Hashimoto | Metal Garden
This Pinterest addiction leads to good things! While cruising my stream I ran into Liisa Hashimoto’s magnificent world of lively metal. I found a world of remarkable details and hope you won’t find me crazy but… it almost felt like Liisa was the one responsible for a metallic fantasy world or some kind of metal Disney Channel.
And you know what the most amazing thing is? This brilliant designer is responsible for some of the craziest shoe jewelry I’ve ever seen! Now it’s my time to stop talking and leave you to explore the wold of Liisa Hashimoto.

Dor Carmon | Candlicious
Do you know what it’s like to have +1000 in your rss reader? Well, I have +10.000 in my reader and my bookmark library as well!
So today I decided to do some damage control and one of my first discoveries was Dor Carmon and his minimal kingdom. I could write about all of his doing but my favorite design is his SPRING Candlesticks which he designed for Tollman’s.
I have a soft spot for all things candles and I could use a pair of each! Love the color combinations and how they perfectly fit the bare candles.
Do you think I should start lighting Sabbath candles? ;)

Asaf Weinbroom | Bright Wood
Last week I shared with you my interview with Asaf Weinbroom but that won’t stop me from sharing with you his latest wooden adventure, Fervency. You can trust this wicked guy to come up with new and exciting ways to use wood in a chic and elegant way.
As I told you before, I’m not a big fan of wooden items but there is something endearing and different in Asaf’s way of thinking and definitely in the way he executes his initial ideas. What amazes me the most is the fact that his final design is practically identical to his sketch, or maybe it’s only my gut feeling ;)

Lital Mendel | Silicone Vally
You think you know a designer and then you find out that she has some surprises up her sleeves! If you don’t really follow me by now, I’m talking about a particular curly gal who goes by the name Lital Mendel. After folding her way for some time she decided to tackle the concept of pearls with her own unique take. She has done it before with her stones collection but this time there is something fascinating with the way she tries to freeze the movement of the pearls. Don’t know what about you, but I prefer Lital’s version way better!

World Break | Maude Lapierre | Fly Away
  • 4 Insects Necklace
  • Grasshopper Brooch
  • Dragonfly Grass Earrings
  • Grasshopper Long Earrings
One of the things that never ceases to amaze me is that with each and every day I find a new creation, a new point of view, a new everything. In a matter of fact, this is exactly what keeps me going.
Maude Lapierre wasn’t a designer I’ve seen before but when I stumbled upon her delicate work I was blown away by her ability to capture the beauty of nature in such a minimal yet precise way. It’s no secret that simple lines and a dash of color can get you anywhere and Maude’s insects are living proof.

Eva Mendelbaum and Kisim | Inked Bags
I think we should all have lots of collaborations. The outcome is so refreshing and exciting!
Noam Zucker, the lady behind Eva Mendelbaum used her mad illustrated skills and joined forces with Yael Rosen and her Kisim empire. Together the two created Carnivorous, a mini collection of leather bags inspired by the body tattoos of the Japanese Yakuza. There is something quite intriguing about the way they decided to use wild flowers as their main motive.
BTW, Noam was kind enough to share with us a glimpse of the behind the scenes sketches and I couldn’t be any happier!

Geffen Refaeli | An iPad Fairytale
Let me start with a personal disclaimer, one of the people that I wish would have excepted my request on instagram is Geffen Refaeli. Yep, I’d love to experience the day to day life of this super illustrator! Lately Geffen illustrated My Story, a magical Illustrated iPad app. “Children can create scenes, move characters around and animate the stories they love…” The crazy thing is that Geffen’s art director was a seven y/o girl aka Ofir, the one who came up with the idea. Ofir’s dad, Yuval Perlov, turned to Geffen and together, the three of them came up with this fun app! I’m not six anymore but I sure am gonna try it myself.

DesignBreak Elsewhere | Interviewing Asaf Weinbroom for the JPost
Asaf Weinbroom. Asaf Weinbroom. Asaf Weinbroom. I’m a huge fan of this mega talented designer, hands down!
It was just a matter of time till I had the chance to ask him all these questions that I’ve been meaning to ask for a long long time.
Oh, with all the excitement I didn’t mention that he is an industrial designer who devotes every single day to design the most brilliant wooden light fixtures you have ever seen. If you grew up watching Pinocchio as a child you should definitely join me at my Jerusalem Post series and read “Doing Design: A modern Geppetto”, my interview with Asaf.

World Break | Amy Lowry | Love Bug
We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day around here but with all the hearts and loving spirit going on around the web, I feel like I should dive in and experience some Valentine festivities. Well, I must admit that it all happened thanks to an email I got last week from the bubbly Amy Lowry straight from Vancouver. Amy wrote me about her Free Printable Valentine’s Cards and I just thought to myself, why not spread the love out there!
So, hope you will find them cheerful and funny at the same time.
