InstagramBreak | My Brand New Ceramic Stone!
Not so long ago, I wrote about Daniel Zelig‘s Stones Collection, and I quote: “I need to arrange a close and personal meeting with this white heaven.”
So, after all the talking, it is only fair that I share with you, my very own beautiful ceramic stone!
What do you think?
I’m in love with it and can’t take it off my finger ;)

Studio Matka | Wavy Light
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to get rid of my wavy hair. You probably don’t see why this is relevant to a design post… Well, I’ll tell you why.
“Formatka”, the wavy light fixture by Hila Gal and Anna Weil, the two behind “Studio Matka”, made me feel like if they can do it I can do it. It’s great seeing all these waves transform into a rich stack of light. I know, I know, I need to work on my world of associations but until then, take a look inside the Matka playground. I’ve been looking forward for their new website to come out, and now it’s finally here. FYI, “Matka” means “Paddle Ball” in hebrew.

Student Break | Hanan Kedmi | Felting. The Low-Tech Version
You probably heard before about Hanan Kedmi’s super intriguing graduation project. However, when I laid my hands on his latest photo shoot, I had to share it with you. It doesn’t hurt that your wife is your personal photographer. You got it, this power couple is the one behind this “low-tech” production, as they like to call it. In Hanan’s “Felt Follows Form”, he experimented with recycled aluminum parts (computer heat sinks) and felt, which shielded them. The felt not only holds the parts together but is also woven into them! Did I mention he is brilliant?

O-SHAN | Shelley Leemor | Looking for Paradise
When living in Hawaii is your reality, you better bring some of it’s flavor to those who can only dream about it! I guess, this is the exact way to describe Shelley Leemor’s “Polynesian Sun”, as seen in her latest collection. While exploring her surreal surroundings, it was just a matter of time until tribal and oceanic associations come to mind and that’s exactly what happened to Shelley. Anyways, enough talking about inspiration, let’s stare at these super brilliant creations! Oh, if you ask me, I need to add these goldish bracelets with the yellowish dot (and I don’t really wear bracelets) to my humble abode.

InstagramBreak | Geffen Refaeli’s Illustrated Stream
I’m in love with Geffen Refaeli. There, I said it out loud. She is one of my favorite illustrators these days and I can’t get enough of her mad talent.
I’m telling you all of this because… While going through my instagram feed (I know you want to strangle me for the constant instagram mentions… sorry!), I got a follower alert and behind it was @dailydoodlegram aka Geffen Refaeli’s daily doodle account. This wicked girl, chooses once a day, a picture from her own instagram feed, and does what she does best, giving her own unique flavor to it.
I’m sure she heard it before but… Geffen, I hope you’ll doodle one of my pics one of these days ;)

Gal Shkedi | Just a Bearded Creature and His Guitar
Gal Shkedi is an illustrator and animator, a brilliant one! Since first bumping into his criminal russian dolls almost three years ago, I’ve been hooked. This guy has such a unique way of portraying emotions in each and every project.
His latest project is a some sort of animation for Holy Divine, a song by the Israeli indie band, Love Grenade. It all began, when Gal wanted to create an animation with a real life doll. I have a feeling that this super touching bearded creature will be around for a while… Can’t wait to see some more melancholic animated moments, with him as the lead star.

My Japanese Break | My Super Delicious Foodie Experience

  • Floresta's cutest doughnut
  • Ramen Fever . Take One
  • Cherry Blossom Pastry
  • Ramen Fever . Take Two
  • Heavenly Chocolate Pestry
It’s been almost two months since I came back from Japan, however I just can’t miss the opportunity to share with you my journey.
I want to tell you everything so I am working on a series of posts such as my Tokyo and Kyoto favorite places, my stationary findings and of course there is a foodie post that I better start with. As you probably know I’m a foodie and there is no way to sugarcoat it.
{Photos by me}
So, let’s start with my fav foodie finds:
-with our first day my romance with all things Green-Tea began; Green-Tea KitKat, Green-Tea ice-cream, Malebranche biscuits, but of course Green-Tea tea and the list goes on and on.
-If I have to put my finger on one amazing finding, it’s most definitely the BAKERIES all over Japan! You can find them all over and I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I say that I had a pastry of some kind almost every two or three hours.
To name a few:
The Rose Bakery at the top floor of the Dover Street Market in Ginza, Tokyo.
The crazy beautiful variety at Takashimaya‘s food courts.
The never ending treasures at the Muji Cafes in every other corner.
The cutest doughnuts at Floresta‘s Kyoto.
Miyajima’s special maple leaf shaped cookies.
-If ramen is what you crave for, ramen it is. My ramen experience was like no other: you can order a ramen on the street, from a vending machine, while waiting for your train or while waiting in line with the locals in a super tiny and crowded shop (best feeling ever!)… There is no way I can rank all the ramens I ate but one really stood out and it was the spicy lemon one at the vegan T’s Restaurant at Tokyo’s Keiyo Street Station. Yup, a super clean and well designed restaurant in a subway station! Who would have thought…
  • The Mighty Ramen Vending Machine
  • Ramen Fever . Take Three
  • Maple Leaf Shaped Cookie
  • Green-Tea KitKat
  • The Real Green-Tea
As you can see, I ate like there is no tomorrow and all this food talk is making me extra hungry ;)

I know it’s not your usual DesignBreak post but I hope you enjoy it and next week there will be a more design related Japanese Break.

Have a yummy weekend, my sweet Breakers.

Carnival by Minagraphy makes me feel like a kid again . Weapons of Mass Creation by Bianca Green hit close to home . Caged Birds by Tina Crespo makes me want to fly away . Pontoon by Irene Chan just makes me happy . Industrial Lights by CUR3ES reminds me of my Japanese Break and Joy by Garima Dhawan is simply a yellowish joy.

Olive Thomas | Maya Levi | Hide and Seek
When you think about leather, you don’t necessarily think about transparency. Well, Maya Levi, the brilliant designer behind Olive Thomas, managed to make this crazy idea work. For her 2012 SS collection, she had fun layering different kinds of leather and by puncturing them, she created her very own unique textures!
Leaving the design aside for just a minute, the concept and the execution of the catalog, which was photographed by Sarai Kirshner, is like a breath of fresh air!
So colorful and simply happy.

Goldfish | Put Your Hands on My Shoulders
Shira Paz and Sharon Goldman’s first creation was the woolish Goldfish. That was last winter… and now, since these two energetic girls know that no one in Israel can even touch wool (probably until December), it’s already SO hot around here, they wrapped their brains around the next best thing and came up with a cousin satin necklace. Shira and Sharon understood that we all need a dash of neon in order to spice up our accessories drawer, however don’t get worried all you anti-neon gals ;) One last thing, I’m loving the fact that you can play with the length of the necklace. It’s like buying 5 in 1!

Hook n’ Loop | A Piece of Childhood Heaven
It’s been a long time since I stumbled upon a kids related product, that I really wanted to write about. That all changed when Tamar Shor and Elisheva Manekin wrote me about their picture perfect wall art. Give me some fabric, add a sweet little silhouette to the mix, don’t forget to leave some white space and I’m yours for good.
Yep, I know I’m not easy to please at times but these two ladies behind Hook n’ Loop are the real deal, or in other words, totally my cup of tea!
The word ca-yute is written all over their sweet little piece of childhood heaven.

Yael Friedman | The Ring Lady
As I was on my hourly break, on my never ending Instagram feed, I saw the most brilliant paper rings by Yael Friedman on Shira Shoval’s stream… and you know me, I immediately wrote her, needing to know more. That’s when I entered into Yael’s super versatile world and found a lot more rings. Leather rings, paper rings, fabric rings and basically all things rings!
So, as I meant to write about Yale’s paper rings, I fell in love with her animal rings. It almost feels like when wearing it, you carry your very own favorite doll with you in a very stylish and unique manner. I’m hooked! There is no other way to put it.

  • Yael Maoz
  • And this is me and the Jaffa Port pretty tiles
Today was a good day!
The 2012 Graduate Shows began with Shenkar College‘s Textile Design Department “Going Fabric” exhibition. Thanks to a special someone (thank you, Noa!), I got a private VIP tour by the super sweet and extra talented Maya Haimovich.
I enjoyed the behind the scenes look and I can honestly say that it’s always fun hearing a designer talk about the design process.
I’ll be writing a lot more about my favorite projects in the up coming weeks but in the meantime, here is a sneak peek from my Instagram feed.

Tehila Levi Hyndman | Come Fly with Me
Whenever you look up, you probably see this sweet little creature, around the streets of Tel Aviv. It was chosen as the face of I am an Other, The Sixth Exhibit of Israeli jewelry at the Eretz Israel Museum. I haven’t been there yet but I feel like this little guy has been following me around… The one behind this super sensitive creation is the young jeweler, Tehila Levi Hyndman. I need to do my thing and find out a lot more about her! I’m sure I’ll be writing about this exhibition once I visit but in the meanwhile I had to share this part gecko part butterfly mixture.

Dana Hakim | I’ve Got the Blues
Lately I’ve discovered a treasure that goes by the name Marianne Gassie. This incredible woman is the one responsible for my recent infatuation with Dana Hakim. After spending a few years in Europe, Dana returned to Israel and I can’t help but wonder what her next creation will be.
While abroad she created the super intriguing “My Four Guardian Angels” and I found myself especially drawn to her blue series… Anyways, I should let you get lost on your own in Dana’s magical world.
