Usually whenever I bumps into a new shoe catalog most of the time they all feel the same. The shoe is always center stage, usually on a white background and sometimes I spot an actual foot here and there. BUT this time it’s different, really different! The girls behind UnaUna (Almog and Mira) turned to some of their favorite artists and designers and asked them to create a compatible piece of art that will accompany each and every one of their summer 2013 collection aka Reaction. The outcome is refreshing, beautiful, sensitive and intriguing all at the same time.

After writing about UnaUna’s latest jewelry collection in collaboration with Shir Pins, I secretly hoped that this won’t be the end of their jewelry journey. I mean, Almog and Mira (the two behind UnaUna) are wicked shoe designers but it’s always exciting to see what else they come up with. So up next is a new collaboration with Miki Ohana, a sculptor and illustrator who just finished his studies at the Bezalel Academy and this time they are in aviation mode. The two designed their own stylish pilot hats and Miki added the final touch with a super cute air plain brooch.

When two shoe designers, decide to explore the world of leather bags, the result is pure perfection, BUT when they proceed with jewelry design, it’s a whole new ball game!
What can I say, I’m blown away by UnaUna’s first jewelry collection, and the fact that it is a collaboration with one of my favorite 2011 graduates Shir Pins, makes it even sweeter. The magic duo, Almog Weiss and Mira Gafni, took some old working tools, mechanical parts, lots of rust and a mix of 24 karat gold and with their special touch created a collection that I’m going to have a hard time staying away from! It’s a dangerous game that I’m playing…

Leather bags… It seems like it’s all I can see around me these days… Does this mean that I have to get it done already and buy one?
The obvious answer is yes but… I think I should wait for a while cause Almog Weiss and Mira Gafni, the ladies behind UnaUna, one of my ultimate fav shoe designers decided to start experimenting with designing bags… Their bags are made traditionally with raw leathers that makes it all look like the beginning of a long term relationship. All I can say is, say hello to my brand new bag crush!

My kind of event is happening this weekend. A two days event dedicated to shoes. That’s right, a sea of shoes…
For some reason it feels like a graduation reunion of all my favorite Israeli designers. Liebling, MYKA, Una Una, Shani Bar, Michal Miller and many many more are gonna be waiting for all the shoe lovers out there… I wish you all could be here! There is so much talent there and I can’t wait to discover which pair will find it’s way to my own shoe kingdom.
BTW, The reason I wanted to write this post is the beautiful pictures of the mega talented photographer Yanai Yechiel so I guess I should have started with him…
