NY Break | Allison Patrick | Typographic Light
Did you see my NY Break? It’s been way too long so the minute I stumbled upon Allison Patrick’s rad lighting pendant lamps, I knew it was time to have some extra delicious New York flavor around here. It feels like Allison gives the term “crafty person” a new meaning. She is crazy talented and her lamps are so pretty! I’m sure there are piles and piles of new designs over there just waiting to come out.
BTW, you can read an interview with Allison right here or even visit her blog right here.
Just one more thing, the name behind it all is Zipper8Lighting, that’s right Zipper8Lighting, start memorizing it ;)

Studio Ve | Time is Money
Do you remember My last post regarding Shay Carmon and Ben Klinger’s Manifold Clock? Anyways, these two energizers, also known as “Studio Ve” worked real hard on improving their creation and transformed their initial concept into a living and breathing 3D clock. The only thing that separates them from mass production is a tiny fortune. SO, if you want to give them a hand, head to their kickstarter campaign and show them the money! ;)
I’m sure you gonna feel good about it.

Bakery | Share Your Heart
And then they became two…
The Bakery bunch used to be a threesome but lately Gil Sheffi decided to begin his own journey and the other two Gilli Kuchik and Ran Amitai are keeping the torch alive!
The two creative lovebirds (yes, they are a couple in real life as well) created the Shares Necklace. “It’s a necklace you can share with your loved one. The necklace looks beautiful as a whole and as a half allowing you to enjoy it before and after you find your other half.” Just like when we gave our childhood boyfriend a little heart charm… I guess someone is ready for valentine ;)

Nuki Sigura | Royal Gold
While discovering Mika Barr’s 3D folding pillows early this week I also had the great pleasure of finding the latest creation of one of my all time favorite jewelry designers, Nuki Sigura.
Nuki’s Royal Family for Talents Design is a three pieces set of serving trays.
Talking about being glamorous and sophisticated while hosting… Well, I’m sure not royalty by any means, but I don’t mind feeling like it for a day ;)
Oh, just one more thing this creation is coated in 14K gold. OH.Em.Gee!

Leetal Rivlin | To Sand or Not to Sand
I was one of those children that you had to drag out of the beach. I used to play with the sand for hours, building castles and other magical creations. I even remember crying my eyes out when the bloody wave ruined it all in a split of a second. To keep a long story short, all those memories came back the minute I stumbled upon Leetal Rivlin’s sand bowl. Such a simple yet brilliant idea! I love the way Leetal froze the sand’s movement… I feel like heading to the beach, collecting some sand and having a sand party at home.

Ilan Garibi | Till Origami Do Us Part
Ilan Garibi is one of those guys that have to work with his hands 24/7. This dude folds and folds and folds paper till he drops. Well, at least that’s what it feels like.
One of Ilan’s latest collaborations was with Aqua Creations. He was responsible for all this mad folding and Ofir Zucker and Albi Serfaty were responsible for the design. The bright child is called Molecule.
You can read an interview with this mega crazy folder right here.
BTW, over the weekend I’m gonna visit Ilan’s brand new exhibition. Can’t wait!

DesignBreak Elsewhere | Interviewing Rona Meyuchas for the JPost
Just like that, out of the blue, I discovered Rona Meyuchas’s world. Immediately I knew I’ll find the right time and place to get to know her up close and personal. Rona is one of those designers who seems like they can do it all! From light fixtures to lamps, from office accessories to home accessories. You name it, she designed it.
Join me while I explore behind the scenes of the “Kukka” brand in my Jerusalem Post series.
You can read my “Doing Design: Coming Home” interview right here.

Studio Libel | Nature’s Pillow
Sometimes a pillow is just a pillow but in this case it’s more like a WILLO.
If you are one of those people who really but really love their plants I have a feeling you’ll want one of these WILLO’s.
FYI, Studio Libel is the one responsible for this breath of fresh air and the duo behind it is Netanela Daniel and Pazit Yahalomi. Oh, and “Libel” stands for “Dragonfly”.

DesignBreak Elsewhere | Interviewing David Shefa for the JPost

Kozos, Kozos, Kozos. I’m so in love with you all.
I first wrote about David Shefa’s adorable creatures a while back but when I had the chance to interview him for the JPost I couldn’t resist.
Join me while I explore the land of the Kozos in my Jerusalem Post series.

Iris Zohar | Concrete Dreams

Iris Zohar is a women of many faces. I wrote about her more than once but this time I must admit, I wasn’t expecting this project…
Her “TableWare” blurs the line between the tableware and the surface on which they are laid out. The way the tableware gently pours itself into the surface is beautiful!
-
I first saw this concrete show stopper at Sotheby’s “Dream Objects”, a contemporary Israeli design selling exhibition, which took place last October. There were many “dream furnitures” in this expo and I’m sure you’ll be hearing about them here soon.

The time has come and Time 02 is here for another round. Starting today till Friday you can visit the work of 12 young and super enthusiastic designers. The main theme behind the exhibition is “On The Double”. I’m curious about the location of this expo at the “Hansen Hospital”, which used to serve as a leprosarium.
Well, there is so much to tell so… if you happen to be in Israel, you should use the opportunity to see it all for yourself. FYI, the curator behind this mega important tradition is Tal Gur and the artistic production is by Prime. Total product design.
You can read about last year’s expo here, here and here.

Bakery | Feel The Bit!

Bakery oh Bakery, your name suites you SO well! I can chew any of your industrial pastries any given day!
The thing with this threesome (Gilli Kuchik, Ran Amitai and Gil Sheffi) is that if I don’t hear from them for a while, I know something is cooking. So, since I last heard from them they have been working on this super fun and extra colorful “8 Bit Drawers’”.
Don’t know what about you, but I can definitely feel the bit ;)

DesignBreak Elsewhere | Interviewing Nir Meiri for the JPost

Nir Meiri is no stranger around here. I guess that’s why I got excited when he agreed to be interviewed by me for my Jerusalem Post series. There is something quite magical about getting a look behind the scenes.
You can read my “Doing Design: City living with dreams of nature” interview right here.

Nir Meiri | Delicate Sand

When Nir Meiri first told me of his next adventure, I didn’t know what to expect. Sand molded lamp sounded like a crazy idea that I had to see for myself. SO, the day has come and… “The use of sand as the main material plays on the tension between its wild nature – that of sand storms and vast desserts– and the delicacy of the molded end design. Despite their apparent fragility, the bulbs are sturdy, and their strength partners with that of the fixture’s metal pole.”
BTW, “Desert Storm” is now on show at Qubique Berlin. Did I mention I LOVE the name of the lamp?

Student Break | Liran Elbaz | The Beginning and End of a Story

Something that really excites me is a great student project. While visiting the MA graduates show at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, I immediately spotted Liran Elaz’s pen. It allows to write down thoughts and erase them at the same time, freeing the writer of consequences . Liran, a first year student and also the girly half of “Two Industrial Designers”, sure managed to get me thinking! I wish I could have a pen like this of my own.
You can get in touch with Liran here:
