Sivan Askayo | One Way Ticket to Lisbon
I missed writing posts about (1 | 2 | 3 | 4) my fave travel photographer Sivan Askayo. That’s why it’s the perfect time to share with you a glimpse into her latest journey to… LISBON!
To be honest, whenever Sivan tells me about her next destination I know deep in my heart that I’ll be following her foot steps sooner than later. Anyways, if Lisbon is on your wish list (it has to be!) here are some of my favorite Lisbonian posts by Sivan: My express travel guide to Lisbon . Laundry galore in Lisbon . The lisbonnaire flair . Pharmacia restaurant.
One way ticket, here I come!

Hagar Cygler | Looking for Hannah!
When Hagar Cygler first shared with me her on going project aka Project Hannah I was speechless. Here’s why: “I found Hannah at the flea market while buying a stack of photo albums. These were simple albums, full of family photos… Among them I noticed some that repeated themselves – these were images of a woman, standing in the same place, at the entrance to her home, wearing in each photo a different outfit.” Right there and then, Hagar began her own journey to find as much as she can about Hannah, a women who was ahead of her time. And now, Hagar needs our help to bring this incredible story to life.
Just so you know, I have goosebumps!

Independence Kind of Day
So… today Israel celebrates it’s 65th birthday. It’s kind of old but then again, kind of new.
Whenever I think about my home country (and it’s only been three months since I left) I can’t help but daydream of it’s blue blue skies and happy weather. There is nothing that a clear blue sky and a sunny day can’t cure!
That’s why I figured that I’d share with you some of my all time favorite happy sky pictures hand picked out of my instagram feed.
For many more, my dear and super sunny Israel!

World Break | Ana Dominguez | Towers of Bread
When you love to eat, you also love looking at food and foodie pictures. At least that’s how it works for me…
I guess this is the only explanation I have for my instant connection with Ana Dominguez’s Bread series. Stacking baguettes, ciabatta, rye and other fancy kinds of bread never looked better. I feel like buying some and building my own version ;)
FYI, this is an Apartamento magazine production with the help of Omar Sosa.

InstagramBreak | One Special Day!

Today was one special day!
I’m only celebrating the big 34 in two days but the Mr. and I decided to take a moment to ourselves in the middle of all the craziness (I’ll tell you all about it in a couple of months) and enjoy a day at the beach (oh well, it also had something to do with a spa).
I know, I know, it’s almost December AND the sun was out and about. She (I like to refer to her as a lady) smiled the whole day and over all it was one special day but I said it already.

Sivan Askayo | Blog for The Road
I’m obsessed with Sivan Askayo’s photographs and by now I have 5 posts to prove it! After sharing with you her photogenic journey all over the globe from NYC (her home base) to Japan to Buenos Aires and even The Caribbeans, I realized that for some reason I haven’t shared with you a very important piece of information, which is Sivan’s personal blog! In her blog you’ll find lots of exciting and sometimes even touching stories from behind the lens. I especially love her Vietnamese posts (1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5) or maybe it’s just beacuse I really want to share with you a few of my favorite pictures from that trip ;)

InstagramBreak | Golden Moment

I’m not really sure who was the one who led me to Ira Khrakovsky’s instagram feed but I wish I knew so I could give him a big hug.
Ira is one of those who knows how to put a smile on my face. Her daily instapics are among my absolute favorites, if only because she has such a rare outlook on our everyday life. Yesterday, while going through my feed for the second (who am I kidding) time, I couldn’t stop staring at Ira’s magical photo of this random fisherman. However there is nothing random about this pic!

Cloud Mine | Kara R Bieber | A Brit on a Mission
Earlier this week I meet a super special person, who shares my love for the Israeli design scene. To make a long story short, Kara Bieber, a bubbly Brit arrived to Israel for 81 nights with one mission in mind, documenting the world of some of the most talented designers that we have around here and showing the British people that there is so much they don’t know about the Israelis.
Kara, a photographer who knows a thing or two about creation and passion, opened a facebook page in which she is documenting her findings. I sure am joining the ride and I think you should too!

World Break | Hideaki Hamada | Memories…
The minute I bumped into Hideaki Hamada’s photographs, I couldn’t stop looking and I just had to go through each and every link I could find. So I spent some up close and personal time with Hideaki’s Flickr, Instagram, Facebook and if I could read Japanese I would have read all his Tweets! Doing all this intensive stalking reminded me that I need to finish My Japanese Break series of posts that I started when I returned from Japan, and yes almost six months have passed since then, and I can’t believe it… Anyways, you should definitely stop whatever you are doing and start your very own Hamada journey!

InstagramBreak | I’m a Foodie Now!
This past Sunday I received a message on DesignBreak’s facebook page saying “you’ve been chosen as our instafoodie of the week“. The message came from the people behind the fancy restaurant Raphael. I must admit that I really enjoy snapping pictures of the food I eat and see around me. You probably don’t know, but Raphael is one of the most prestigious restaurants here in Israel, so them choosing me is a super special thing! Well, I guess now My Mr. will have to take not being able to touch his food for the first 5 to 7 minutes more lightly. BTW, if you follow some foodies of your own, write their name down, I’d like to see!

Ourit Ben-Haim | A New York Reading Maze
  • The History and Power of Writing by Henri-Jean Martin
  • Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet
  • A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
  • The Random House Book of Opera Stories by Adele Geras
  • Sunday Morning Bible
  • Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
Whenever I visit NYC (and you know I have a thing for NY, right?), I’m amazed by the brilliant subway system. Maybe because here, it’s so damn complicated getting with public transportations. Anyways, I’m not complaining, I’m just mentioning it because I’m super excited about Ourit Ben-Haim’s Underground New York Public Library. Since 2008, Ourit is documenting the New Yorkers’ reading habits and it all comes together as a human library, which is both emotional and surprising at the same time!
It’s even makes things a little bit more real when you read her FAQ page.

My Japanese Break | My Super Delicious Foodie Experience

  • Floresta's cutest doughnut
  • Ramen Fever . Take One
  • Cherry Blossom Pastry
  • Ramen Fever . Take Two
  • Heavenly Chocolate Pestry
It’s been almost two months since I came back from Japan, however I just can’t miss the opportunity to share with you my journey.
I want to tell you everything so I am working on a series of posts such as my Tokyo and Kyoto favorite places, my stationary findings and of course there is a foodie post that I better start with. As you probably know I’m a foodie and there is no way to sugarcoat it.
{Photos by me}
So, let’s start with my fav foodie finds:
-with our first day my romance with all things Green-Tea began; Green-Tea KitKat, Green-Tea ice-cream, Malebranche biscuits, but of course Green-Tea tea and the list goes on and on.
-If I have to put my finger on one amazing finding, it’s most definitely the BAKERIES all over Japan! You can find them all over and I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I say that I had a pastry of some kind almost every two or three hours.
To name a few:
The Rose Bakery at the top floor of the Dover Street Market in Ginza, Tokyo.
The crazy beautiful variety at Takashimaya‘s food courts.
The never ending treasures at the Muji Cafes in every other corner.
The cutest doughnuts at Floresta‘s Kyoto.
Miyajima’s special maple leaf shaped cookies.
-If ramen is what you crave for, ramen it is. My ramen experience was like no other: you can order a ramen on the street, from a vending machine, while waiting for your train or while waiting in line with the locals in a super tiny and crowded shop (best feeling ever!)… There is no way I can rank all the ramens I ate but one really stood out and it was the spicy lemon one at the vegan T’s Restaurant at Tokyo’s Keiyo Street Station. Yup, a super clean and well designed restaurant in a subway station! Who would have thought…
  • The Mighty Ramen Vending Machine
  • Ramen Fever . Take Three
  • Maple Leaf Shaped Cookie
  • Green-Tea KitKat
  • The Real Green-Tea
As you can see, I ate like there is no tomorrow and all this food talk is making me extra hungry ;)
-
I know it’s not your usual DesignBreak post but I hope you enjoy it and next week there will be a more design related Japanese Break.
-
Have a yummy weekend, my sweet Breakers.

InstagramBreak | Bits of My InstaFeed
I’m on my way to the opening night of Insta.Art2, which is the Israeli Instagram exhibition. As I spend a great part of my waking hours in the super addictive sphere, I thought to myself that I should share with you a few of my favorite pics.
BTW, I’d love to hear from you about super exciting instagramers, so if you know one, write their name in a comment.
-
Full disclosure, I submitted my pics for this exhibition but as turned out, I sent it to the wrong email (just my luck), so… this is my way of feeling a bit fancy ;)

My Japanese Break | Cherry Blossom Madness
I really don’t know where to begin. Two and a half weeks, more than a 1000 pictures and one cherry blossom.
It is only right that I’ll start my Japanese break with a pinkish bang. From Tokyo to Kyoto, Hiroshima and Miyajima… Wherever I turned I bumped into this super amazing phenomena, only to realize that no two cherry blossoms are a like. From pink to white and all the colors in between I could stare at this breathtaking creation all day long and I’ve got more than a hundred blossoming pictures to prove it! I won’t give you a hard time by showing all of them but I had to share my top five.
