The Beauty of Still Life Shoes
  • By Liebling
  • By Michal Miller
  • By Myka
  • By Shani Bar
  • By Una Una
My kind of event is happening this weekend. A two days event dedicated to shoes. That’s right, a sea of shoes
For some reason it feels like a graduation reunion of all my favorite Israeli designers. Liebling, MYKA, Una Una, Shani Bar, Michal Miller and many many more are gonna be waiting for all the shoe lovers out there… I wish you all could be here! There is so much talent there and I can’t wait to discover which pair will find it’s way to my own shoe kingdom.
BTW, The reason I wanted to write this post is the beautiful pictures of the mega talented photographer Yanai Yechiel so I guess I should have started with him…

Noa Kedmi | The Textile Whisperer
I kept hearing the name Noa Kedmi all over and I was thrilled when she wrote me and told me about her latest revelation.
As a recent textile design graduate Noa began taking pictures of her fellow graduate’s graduation projects, only then she discovered that photographing textile is exactly what she wants to do for the rest of her life. She knows all the inside secrets so that’s why her photographs tell a different story.
Here is a glimpse of Noa’s pictures of Tal Lebendiger’s “Between the Knots” graduation project.
You can get in touch with Noa here: angikedmi {at} gmail {dot} com

Tamar Tal | Life in Stills | Fragile Moments
Over the weekend I went to see the documentary Life in Stills by Tamar Tal. “At the age of 96, Miriam Weissenstein never imagined that she would be facing a new chapter in her life. But when The Photo House was destined for demolition, even this opinionated and uncompromising woman knew she needed help.” Everyone who knows how it feels to watch your loved ones grow old will find this piece overwhelming. For me, the special bond between Miriam and her grandson Ben is priceless and a lesson to be learned. I can’t explain all the emotions that ran through me… Tamar, just wanted to say THANK YOU!

Last year I shared with you some behind the scenes stuff. You can refresh your memory here and here.
This year won’t be less special!

Sivan Askayo’s Boarding Pass at Prêt à Voyager

If you’ve been around here long enough you know that I’m a big fan of Sivan Askayo‘s point of view. She gives me my much needed daily dose of NY magic. There is nothing like opening my facebook page and gazing at her morning jogs through central park. Yep, she photographs while running!
Anyways, I was SO excited when I visited my fave travel blog Prêt à Voyager and saw Sivan’s Boarding Pass!
You should take a look. It’s always interesting to find out more about the person behind the pictures. Right?!
-
Sivan and I became good friends thanks to my DesignBreak. You can read about it here.

InstagramBreak | Heart of Leaves

It’s no secret that I’m smitten with Instagram, I have one or two posts to prove it.
So this morning, when I checked my feed like I always do, I stumbled upon this picture and I just had to share it with you.
I’m not handling this fall weather too well but this picture made me feel a little better (but only for a moment :)
BTW, you can follow my instagramic journey… I’d be happy to share some of my everyday life with you.

Yifat Verchik and Dan Peretz | Lost in Wonderland

Remember Yifat Verchik, the talented photographer who is responsible for Mona’s dreamy photographs? Well, after digging in her portfolio I had to share with you “Alice in wonderland”, a production which was made with love. Yifat and her man, Dan Peretz (a brilliant still life photographer) gathered a few of their talented friends for a once in a life time photogenic fairy tail.
You can get in touch with Yifat here: yifatverchik {at} gmail {dot} com

World Break | Carl Kleiner | Photogenic Food

Lately I’ve been a bit estranged from my google reader, so I haven’t seen any of Carl Kleiner’s “Ikea – Art of cooking” videos. I’m a huge fan since his ah-mazing “Hembakat är Bäst” a.k.a “Homemade is Best”. No words can describe how inspiring and exciting Carl’s world is. The man can turn the most ordinary egg into a work of art! If I were you, I’d go to his vimeo page and let the party start. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Colors, compositions, minimalism and just the right soundtrack. Ready, Set, Go!

Sivan Askayo | Dreamy (B)Day

So… this is a first at DesignBreak. A birthday post. By now you all know my dearest most talented friend Sivan, right? Well, little did I know that a post I wrote about an Israeli photographer, who captures the exciting moments of my favorite city, will lead to an amazing and once in a life time friendship. Since then, I’ve been traveling with her through the lens of her lucky camera and walking the blogosphere walk with her. Can’t wait to be a part of your next chapter… Wishing you lots of memorable snapshots and lots of butterflies.
Sending a big kiss all the way to the Caribbeans.

Niv Rozenberg | Photographic Patterns

When the most ordinary things in life become art work, you know you have a winner!
That’s what I felt when I came across Niv Rozenberg’s AutoMonuments series. All I know is that I can stare at his photographs for ages! and I’m not joking. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Till this Sutarday, you can visit Nir’s photographs at the Fresh Paint contemporary art fair which is held in Tel Aviv.

Sivan Askayo | Buenos Aires Like No Other

A lot has changed since I first wrote about Sivan’s photographs.
We became close friends who share our passion for the blogosphere, design, chocolate, NYC, Barcelona and lately even Buenos Aires.
When Sivan visited there, a month ago, I began my day with a picture, a little postcard from the city that I miss and want to revisit so badly. There is nothing like seeing a place you love in the eyes of a gifted photographer.
Here are bits and pieces from her colorful journey.

Maya Shalev | Bag Time Stories

I just love sneak peeks!
For her autumn-winter 2011 collection Maya teamed up with art photographer Noa Yafe and together they worked on a slightly different concept.
The girls decided to put the bag in the center of attention, while each frame tells a different story about the owner of the bag.
Don’t know what about you but I’m dying to know the story behind the black door.
Oh, my previous post about Maya’s creation is one of my favorite ones so far.
