Shelly Dahari | Calling All Beetles
Over the weekend I bumped into the sweet Shelly Dahari and her Beetles mini collection.
I don’t think I know of a word, which can describe how I felt the minute I laid my eyes on them! For real, I couldn’t move for quite some time… So colorful, bright and dramatic, all at the same time. Just like me ;)
Since then (and it was on Friday), I can’t stop thinking about the yellow beetles and the blueish beads. Do you think I should do something about it?
I sure am!

Kobi Levi | Beware of Sharks
  • Lady Shark
  • Mr. Shark
  • Lady Orca
  • Mr. Orca
With a brand new web site and an under the sea inspired new collection, Kobi Levi’s sculptural shoes are my guilty pleasure. There is no chance I’ll be able to pull it off but I can star for very long time. The good news is, now you can add these masterpieces to your very own shoe collection which I know exists. Oh, and there is something just for you brave gents out there.

Ola Liola | Expressing Emotions through Color
I’ve been meaning to write about Ola Liola’s colorful world for a while…
This is one of those moments where I want to kick myself. Why did it take me so long?!
Anyways, when seeing Ola’s illustrations for the first time, the only thing I could think of was how amazing it would be to experience the world of Alice in wonderland from cover to finish with Ola’s dreamy touch… Yep, I think it would be a once in a life time experience. But, until Ola adopts this brilliant idea I’ll keep on dreaming about asking her to participate in my Illustrated Break

Noga Berman | Shiny Happy Mini Creatures
When your parents go by the name Nirit and Avi Berman, aka the famous jeweler couple, there is no escaping your heritage. While studying industrial design, Noga Berman clearly had a strong attraction to the tiny and shiny little parts in her life. Her brand new NAIVE is a series of sterling silver lapel brooches of these cute little figures. Who doesn’t need a dash of cuteness in his jewelry box? I can certainly use some ;)

Reddish Studio | Bottle Cork Zoo

Well, well, well… what have we here?
Unless you’ve lived under a rock for the past week or so, you’ve probably seen this Corkers zoo by Naama Steinbock and Idan Friedman aka the love bugs behind Reddish Studio. The two collaborated with Oded Friedland (also known as Monkey Business) and created this animal party! “Bring your dinner party and your bottle corks to life with these cute‭, ‬collectable animal parts‭.‬”
All is left to do is decide which animal to chose. Any suggestions?

Student Break | Yevgeni Krachak | Home and Away
When it’s cold and rainy outside, all I want to do is crawl under my duvet. For some reason Yevgeni Krachak’s Homeless animation feels like a good fit. His little creature is searching for a proper home and it’s adorable face expressions make me want to adopt him. I know, I know it’s only an animation… I’m having hard time separating fiction and real life ;)
BTW, Yevgeni is a third year student at the Screen-Based Arts Department at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.

Buligaia | Adiya Berkovich | Midnight Owls
  • John | The Pirate Owl
  • Sleepyhead | The Sleep Lover Owl
  • The Nutcracker Owl
I have a thing for owls, I can’t really explain why but when it comes down to this big headed animal and it’s huge eyes I melt inside…
Adiya Berkovich and her magic hands is the one responsible for all these Buligaia Owls. She manages to capture their lovable face expressions and I just love it!
All I want to do do is grab Owl John (my absolute fav) and cuddle him!

Just one more thing, I really enjoyed the movie Legend of the Guardians. Yep, it’s about owls ;)

World Break | Walnut Animal Society | Cuteness Attack
  • Eleanor The Bear
  • Henry The Fox
  • The Walnut Animal Society
  • Chester The Raccoon
  • Ruthie The Deer
Well, well, well isn’t this the most adorable bunch you’ve ever seen?!
Lauren Bradshaw’s Walnut Animal Society is quite a smart and sophisticated group! They say “god is in the details” and in this particular case I’m sure that god is pretty impressed with all the extra thoughtful and stylish add ons.
All is left to say is love me some you ;)

World Break | The Good Machinery | Animal Kingdom

I’m obsessed with Etsy. There I said it! So when ever I get their newsletter (you know I signed up for ALL of their newsletters…) it’s like a sign to drop whatever I’m doing and go into a happy artsy mode. That was the case earlier today when I spotted The Strange Planet animals by The Good Machinery. These little colorful animals made me realize that you don’t have to be a kid to enjoy things from your past. I can still remember playing with my plastic animals as a child and the fact that I can have the same animals but a bit more stylish and jazzed up makes things so much better.
I’m so getting my own little zoo a.sap!

Kobi Perez | The Dearest Deer

Apparently, Kobi Perez has a thing for animals, their bones and lately for their upper body aka their heads. Say hello to Vincent, the black deer and to Bruce, the… I’m pretty sure is some other kind of deer… (I’m not really that familiar with the details). I think those brooches will be a huge success around hunting season, whenever that is or, it can be transformed to an honorary medal for those, who protect the four legged creatures.

Student Break | Anat Thaler | Reptiled Fabrics

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of reptiles and that’s an understatement!
When I first saw Anat Thaler’s fabrics I knew there was something quite intriguing and unique about them but couldn’t really put my finger on it. An entire project, inspired by the adaptive evolutionary processes of scaled reptiles, sounds like a scary road to follow. BUT, it’s mission accomplished in my book! Love the textures, colors and basically, love it all. Way to go sister!
As for before, Anat is a graduate of the Textile Design Department at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.

Student Break | Natalie Bettelheim and Sharon Michaeli | Howl

Sometimes all you need is a good story and the rest will follow. Natalie Bettelheim and Sharon Michaeli came up with such a sensitive story that no words were needed. Sharon Michaeli’s animation is priceless! The light, textures and movement were flawless. The one “bad” thing I can say is I wanted it to last for a few more minutes. I’m a sucker for emotional stories. Guilty as charged!
It’s exciting to see this short animation come from the Screen-Based Arts Department at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.
One more thing, LOVE the animation tests. Girls, tnx for moving me!

Student Break | Noa Dotan | Let Go to Terapy!

Noa Dotan is a fresh graduate of the Industrial Design Department at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. Her “Family Matters” are toys for family therapy. “I realized that the field of therapy is full of card games and computer programs but missing 3D relateable objects. The toys originated as a tool for therapists and patients, creating and encouraging communication in the therapeutic framework.”
Between designing and baking brilliant cupcakes, Noa has a thing for bunnies and mustaches. Oh, and she collects Dunnies. It’s definitely an ice breaker!
BTW, this is the cutest logo ever!

World Break | Birgit Marie Schmidt | The Golden Hourse

When you can transform your childhood memories and fantasies into timeless pieces, you know you have a keeper! That’s the case with Birgit Marie Schmidt’s 2011 graduation collection at the RCA. “Birgit transformed her own recurring childhood fantasies of wild horse adventures into wearable jewelry pieces. The pieces… reminiscing early childhood phantasies made up sitting underneath her grandmother’s kitchen table.” While checking Birgit’s debut collection you can hum the Black Horse And The Cherry Tree song, which bring back lots of good memories ;)

World Break | Baku Maeda | Twists and Bends as He Goes

  • Frosty Night Fox
  • Patient Dog
  • Patient Dog | A Look From Behind
  • Golden Crest
  • The Ribbonesia Gang
I first came across the cutest ribbon animals by Baku Maeda a while back at the lushlee blog. Since then I kept coming back hoping to find a lot more ribbonicious creations and finally the time has come. Baku has made ribbonesia adornments and all I can say is thank god this guy is obsessed with animals!
You can have one of your own right here, well you only have to overcome the language barrier…
BTW, Baku is a gifted illustrator by day. I just had to mention it.
