Israelis@MilanDesignWeek | Hagit Pincovici | Folding Chairs

I have a feeling that Hagit and I studied at the same high school back in the day… but let’s leave it for another post;)

“Hagit Pincovici’s Alma Chair explores the relation between transparency and opacity and the harmony between Satin Ice Plexiglas and wood.”
I must admit that I love the rounded lines and the mix of bold and straight lined colors. It looks like she had a lot of paper folding parties at her studio.

Groupa Studio | Black and White Perfection

“Piece Per Week” is a chalange the guys of Groupa Studio took upon themselves.
For ten weeks, they’ll design one new furniture piece each week!
I’m loving their Piece Per Week #7 which is called “hold on”. Black and white are my favorite colors (well, yellow as well but we’ll leave it at that) and when ever it comes hand in hand with clean and refined design I’m hooked.
You can read an Hebrew friendly interview about the project right here.

Are you chair obsessed? If so, you should know about the group exhibition “Chair is a Chair is a Chair” . In “Chair is a Chair is a Chair” 17 chairs are exhibited, each with its own uniqueness. The curators Prof. Ezri Tarazi and Anat Benvenisti made me re-think it all. Thank you for this one!

Talking about chairs, Chair Whore is a blog about chairs and nothing else.
You are headed for a treat. Have fun!

  • Tunnels Collection | Chair
Noga is a 2010 graduate of the Industrial Design Department of Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.
Her “Tunnels – Encompassing Furniture” is a series of furniture that explore private places inside of household furniture. “Just as a cat seeks out hiding places or small spaces to slip into, I wanted to create furniture that can encompass all or parts of the human body. I created human-scale objects that can be used for lying down, sitting and storage.”
One of Noga’s main influences for this project was the Danish designer Ditte Hammerstrom.

Bakery | Gilli Kuchik | Industrial Upholstery

Gilli is a member of the design group bakery. The other two members are Ran Amitai and Gil Sheffi. The three are recent graduates of the Industrial Design Department of Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.
I admit that the first thing that drew me to this chair was the color. I love it when designers experiment and use bold colors!
It looks like there is more to come from these three guys! I can’t wait to see their graduation projects… I guess I only have to wait till this July ;)
