ROOMEUR | Rumor Has It!
Just when I thought I can start preparing myself for spring it feels like it’s back to winter! You all know I don’t handle winter too well and so I had to come up with a plan. My plan is to stare at all this oh-so-blossomy collection by Hagit Kassif and Omer Poizner aka ROOMEUR (love that name!). And to think that this is only the first collection by these two crazy talented designers. I could tell you that the inspiration behind this collection was the unforgettable Frida Kahlo, but I’m sure you figured it out by yourself. Anyways, you can read an interview with the two right here, while I’ll be daydreaming about sunnier and happy days.

World Break | ALL Knitwear | Illustrated Sweater
When I first bumped into Annie Larso‘s colorful playground, I was convinced that she is an illustrator. Little did I know that this wicked lady knits sweaters and hats for a living! AND if I want to be precise: “Each piece is designed, knit, and assembled by Annie on a Brother KH-965i knitting machine” which means it’s all about one of a kind pieces and if you ask me, it looks like art. I’d leave it just the way it is with the box and everything as a collector piece! I can’t believe this is the first time I’m hearing about this rad designer and it is too good to pass!

Adam Gefen | The Monster in Us
Last month while joining the Kinetis gang, I had the pleasure of seeing with my very own eyes Adam Gefen’s first commercial collection, which goes by the name “1″. I wanted to share with you my thoughts about it but then… I visited Adam’s website and was blown away by his Monster Shells illustrated collection. I was taken by surprise but then again I should have seen this one coming. “Monster Shells is a project focusing on the ability clothing has to recreate ourselves as someone else… We all have a monstrous side in us, why not let it shine out.” Why not?!

Student Break | Tamar Levi | If I were a Boy
It all began when Tamar Levi found a second hand black and white jacket, with a red handkerchief in it’s pocket. That’s when Tamar felt the urge to give it a second life and that’s when Oleg, the miss fit teddy bear came to life. You can definitely sense the emotional journey she took upon herself and the fact that lots of textures, fabrics and colors are involved in this party for the heart. Tamar’s Heart Beat collection feels like a bright begining of a young woman, designing for the sensitive men around us.
FYI, Tamar is a 2012 graduate of the Shenkar College.

Reason To Be Pretty | Nophar Haimovitz | Pretty . Dreamy . Heavenly
I’m such a sucker for sneak peeks!
When Nophar Haimovitz aka Reason To Be Pretty, told me about her NOPHAR SS13 collection, I made some cute (at least I hope so) sounds and asked her to share with you guys her pretty collection. I think that deep down inside, I wish I was one of these pretty ladies, who can rock an effortless look. I’m sure you all know these perfect girls, who look like they wake up in the morning, pick a dreamy dress and are ready to conquer the world!
FYI, You can read my One On One Break with Nophar right here.

Student Break | Shira Galon | Blue Horizon
I don’t understand much about fashion but if there is something I can appreciate is the mad talent these young designers hold within them!
Shira Galon and her “Flat Nature” collection, was and still is one of those designers, who made me miss a beat. She wanted to explore the dialogue between form, print and two and three dimensions. And so she decided to use the Japanese Kimono with it’s natural prints as her starting point… You need to take a much closer look at her prints… They are BREATHTAKING!
BTW, Shira is a 2012 graduate of the Shenkar College.

Student Break | Lee Kodo | The Stylish Mrs. Doolittle
It makes sense to start a new week with a whimsical vibe.
Lee Kodo’s collection was inspired by her childhood memories of the Shavuot Holiday at the Kibbutz, where she grew up. It was inspired by the atmosphere and the happy spirit of the holiday: women and men with embroidered outfits, wearing flower bouquets and surrounded by animals. Lee made it all feel like a place I want to live in, with all the super beautiful accessories (someone mentioned a tractor wheel bracelet?!) and the big flowers and sprinkles of pastel all over. FYI, Lee is graduate of the Shenkar College.

Oh My, It’s No Other Than Mr. Yohji Yamamoto!
Earlier today, I’ve visited The Design Museum Holon and had an up close and intimate look at 80 of Yohji Yamamoto‘s breathtaking creations. Yeah, Yohji Yamamoto’s vision and detailed world, finally made it to Israel! Touching, sometimes even smelling and gazing at the art pieces made me appreciate the Japanese mind even more! If I have to point at only one thing I really liked, it has to be the upper gallery red room installation. I spent the majority of the time in this room (more than 30min), trying to get inside Mr. Yamamoto’s head or better yet, his dreams. The sea of tangled light bulbs and the Japanese vibe made it all hundred times more magical…

K.Brat | The Bugs and The Beetles
Just the other day I talked with a friend of mine and conffesed that I’m not much of a fancy girl. What I mean is, I let my accessories do the talk and not my clothes. However, once I bumped into Keren Brat’s The Sinister Crawl collection, a little voice inside my head made me reconsider my choices!
I can talk on and on about the impeccable pieces (but that’s a given!) but all I really want to do is take a moment and imagine my life as one of Keren’s sophisticated chics.
FYI, in what seems like a life time ago, I had the pleasure of having Keren as one of my One On One Breaks.

Student Break | Anat Martkovich | Cutting and Pasting
If it was up to me, I would have written about Anat Martkovich’s graduation project months ago… The problem was I had to wait for the pictures to come my way. Anyways, all of that is water under the bridge. Anat’s Cut & Paste collection is one of those who left a big mark on me… “The collection is inspired by knowledge, the flow and abundance of information at this point in time and how we as individuals, can’t possibly contain it all… ” I guess it hits a soft spot!
BTW, Anat is a 2011 graduate of the Fashion Design Department at Shenkar College.

Student Break | Chen Pony Shafir | Take Me To The Dark Side

Back in the day, as a student, I studied quite a bit about “Still life” painting. Not sure if it’s the right time or place to share with you my thoughts on the subject but then again… I feel like the same thoughts were the trigger for Chen Pony Shafir’s collection.
Chen’s dark side is shown in this mysterious journey she took upon herself…
BTW, Chen is a graduate of the Fashion Design Department at Shenkar College.

Meanwhile, Chen began her internship at Mary Katrantzou‘s studio and I’m curious about what’s next to come.

Student Break | Efrat Goldstien | Little Women

During her first three years in school, Efrat Goldstien used only black and white… Who would have known that this girl will have the most vibrant collection of them all?! Efrat’s project deals with her criticism against the women of the fifties and their role at home. By humor and exaggeration she tried to emphasize how women were one dimensional. I’m blown away by every little detail in this collection!
In times like this, I wish I could upload larger images!!!
FYI, Efrat is a graduate of the Fashion Design Department at Shenkar College.

Student Break | Chen Bar Kalifa | Lost in Translation

Natural disasters. We don’t have too many around here but last year the disruptive fire that killed most of the Carmel Forest was one of those moments you can’t leave behind…
Most of Chen Bar Kalifa’s childhood memories vanished with this fire and suddenly his colorful memories transformed into a sad world of muted nature. Chen’s sensitive eye and his way of telling his own story through his art is breathtaking! I can honestly say I can’t wait for his next collection. FYI, Chen is a graduate of the Fashion Design Department at Shenkar College.

Student Break | Lenny Uzan | R for Red

In “Captive”, Lenny Uzan’s graduation project, there is a dialog between two artists. First, the Palestinian Mona Hatoum, who exposes in her work the experience of displacement, detachment and wandering, while raising questions about freedom and political borders. By her side the Israeli Erez Israeli, who copes with bereavement, death, memorial, forgetfulness and monumentality. Lenny’s collection tells the story of the duality of our lives. BTW, Lenny is a 2011 graduate of the Fashion Design Department at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.

Student Break | Maayan Hod | Here Comes The Sun

Maayan Hod is one of those graduates that I know nothing about and maybe it’s a good thing cause I can play the guessing game, which I really enjoy.
I’m gonna keep thinking about the layering and double meaning for a while. If any of you can figure out what’s behind this oh so complicated atmosphere I would appreciate your comments. Until then, I’m gonna focus on these vibrant and happy colors.
Yep, yellow makes me happy. There I said it! Oh, Maayan is a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
