Student Break | Ester Klein | My Playground of Thoughts

Ester Klein grew up in a Kibbutz. She is Jewish, Persian, Polish, Heretic and Repentant. Till this day, I remember how overwhelmed I was when I first saw Ester’s pieces of jewelry laying on the big white table. I felt confused and intrigued all at the same time. In her project she tries to cope with it all- “Within the scale between the Kibbutz, secularism and Judaism, what can you change and what can you play with? What remains and what falls apart?” Life in Israel can be confusing from time to time but I guess that’s what makes it so worthwhile. BTW, Ester is a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.

Mirit Weinstock | Fields of Gold

Sometimes jewelry can speak louder than words. If you don’t believe me, let me introduce you to “Raffia & Twigs”, Mirit Weinstock’s latest wild child. The way Mirit chooses to deal with mother nature is so refreshing and inspiring. I have to say that Mirit’s previous “Feather collection” is one of my all time favorites but now with all the wild nature and branches I think I might have a runner up!

Shiri Avda | Reading Between The Lines

Last year I interviewed Shiri Avda minutes after she graduated. A lot has happened since then but mainly, the creation of “The Mechanism of Reading”, a project that just won second place at the “ITAMI International Craft Exhibition 2011 – Jewelery”. Respect!
Shiri wanted to freeze the feeling you get while reading. Some might say my days as a book worm comes to life in this post ;) and with that being said, Shiri, I LOVE your creation. Jewelry made out of old books. SO Precious!

Student Break | Tami Eshed | Geometrics. The Straight Way

The world definitely needs a lot more geometric rings! Don’t you agree?
After seeing Tami Eshed’s graduation project and her set of rings I know someone has heard my prayers ;)
I guess all that is left to do is try them in person, better sooner than later.
You should visit Tami’s geometric forest if you dig straight lines as much as I do. There is a lot more than just rings but… I have to leave some room for your curiosity.
FYI, Tami is a 2011 graduate of the Jewelry Design Department at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.

World Break | Paula Gaviria | The Mystery Goddess!

Paula Gaviria is quite a mystery… I can’t find any information about her. I guess she decided to let her jewelery do the talking and I can’t blame her.
This Colombian native got some serious talent! Her statement necklaces won me over, the minute I laid my eyes on them. Paula, if you hear me, wherever you are, please create some more beauty. You can’t leave me like this with only a handful of your drop dead gourges creations!
On a side note, if anyone can recognize the font Paula used on her website I’ll be forever grateful.

World Break | Design + Conquer Jewelry | Jukebox Madness

For her brand new collection, Morgan Mallett aka Design + Conquer Jewelery, followed the beat of electronic music. How brilliant is that! I can imagine Morgan dancing around her studio, transforming her dance moves into work of art. Who can argue with the sound of music mixed with neon touch?!
And the most exciting part is that each and every piece is inspired by a specific track. Heck yeah!
I’m gonna have a look at some of Morgan’s music choices. God knows I have zero understanding in electronic music. BTW, I was introduced to Morgan’s world in boticca.com.

  • Hostess Earrings | Expo Collection
  • Pavilion Earrings | Expo Collection

  • Expo Earrings | Expo Collection
It happened once before so why not again. Coming your way are two posts about only one designer!
As of now, Morgan Mallett the wicked gal behind Design + Conquer, is the one to beat. Graphic designers, who make the transition into the world of accessories, are my heroes! And as one of those, Morgan brings so much versatility and awesomeness to the table. As I see it, coming from the graphic design world gives her a great advantage! I got so excited that I didn’t mention my massive crush on the colors, shapes… well, all of it, from beginning to end!

World Break | Dark Cloud Silver | Musical Treasure

  • Wooden Turntable Pendant
  • iPod Earphones Pendant
  • Connoisseur Turntable Pendant
  • DJ Crate Digger Pendant
  • Old School Turntable Pendant
From time to time there is nothing wrong with splurging, right?
Well, I’m not sure if my wallet will be happy to hear about my latest wishlist. Who am I kidding, I can only dream of having one of Dark Cloud Silver‘s music miniatures as my own. It takes me back in time, when as a little girl I wore my favorite miniature cookie monster as a pendent (I had an exquisite taste back in the day :)
You can get your own tiny treasure at oyemodern.com, a house for many Australian designers.
BTW, the mystery man behind it all is the wonder boy, Nathan Thomas.

Tamara | The Time As Arrived | Greatest News Ever!

I can honestly say that this is the worst I have ever felt in my entire life. Between the fever and the dizziness the one thing that brightened my day was the news regarding Tamara’s new Etsy Shop.
As you all know I’ve been a big fan of Tamar Gartenberg for as long as I can remember. I’m sure this is only her first step conquering the big wide world!
Lets start the new year with as many statement pieces as we can lay our hand on. Ready, Set, Go!

Sharon Vaizer | Plasticious Creatures

Does the name Sharon Vaizer ring any bells? If not, it means you are a new breaker, so welcome aboard :)
Anyways, since graduating from design school back in 2009, Sharon took her graduation project, FUN-ta-sea, to the next level.
Her collection is plastic perfection!
If you ask me, any piece is a definite show stopper.
Just the other day I had the pleasure of trying it on, and boy do I LOVE it all.
Life under the sea never looked so friendly before.

Michal Oren | A Dash of Red Cuteness

  • Gold Cherry Ring
  • Gold Cherry Necklace
  • Golden Ladybug Necklace
  • Golden Ladybug Ring
The way I see it, the best things in life come in small packages and this time is no exception.
How sweet is the tiny cheery? and don’t let me start gashing about the cutie ladybug. Normally I’m all about larger than life accessories but sometimes all you need is a dash of red cuteness. I have a feeling that you are on board with me on this one ;) The only thing is, I can’t decide whether to go with the ring or the necklace.
FYI, Amalia Boutique, the site which is responsible for all this beauty, is coming your way straight from Tel Aviv with the latest Israeli creations. SO happy I discovered this goldmine :)

Michal Ben Ami | Enamel Crush

When I first wrote about Michal Ben Ami, I didn’t know I’m gonna become one of her biggest fans. Well, to be honest, I had a hunch but… Since I first purchased her turquoise Bally enamel earrings, I keep receiving countless compliments. I guess that’s why I’ve been wearing them practically every day, for the past
month :)
Michal’s new collection comes with new combinations of colors and shapes.
I think I should consider adding some new Ballys to my collection!
Head to Michal’s facebook page for a colorful treat.

Carmelita | Naama Brosh | She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

Naama, oh Naama, how come I can’t stop thinking about your blossoming necklace? Believe me, I tried, but for some reason I keep coming back for a visit at Naama’s etsy shop. It almost feels like it has my name on it and will be waiting for me till the end of time.

O-SHAN | Shelley Leemor | Aquamarinian Mode

One of my all times favorite designers is the inspiring Shelley Leemor. Her latest Primitive collection won a special place in my heart. With her mad ability to transform just about any material into a desirable piece, Shelley chooses to work with Plexiglas. You won’t know it at first glance but the fact of the matter is that once you lay your eyes on this captivative color there is no turning back. Shelley’s aquamarine reminds of all that is good and beautiful in the big wide ocean.
Happy beach day everybody!
