Student Break | Zofnat Ozeri | Under The Sea

I’ve been meaning to write about Zofnat Ozeri’s intriguing creatures for a while but… nature has its course. She just gave birth to her little baby and I had to anxiously wait. Zofnat’s graduation project at the Textile Design Department of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design is one of those projects that you keep on thinking of… All I know for sure is that life under the sea was the endless source of inspiration for this hard working girl.

I couldn’t narrow it down to five pics… Hope you don’t mind ;)

Kobi Levi | Walk Your Beak

Kobi Levi. You might not know his name but there is no way on earth you don’t know his out of this world shoes!
Just the other day, I decided to check what’s new in his crazy kingdom and I discovered his super creative “Birds Series”. The way he turned this ordinary heel into a bird’s beak is major! I can’t stop staring…
Get your own piece of access to Kobi’s world in his blog. I know I keep coming back :)

Sharon Vaizer | Plasticious Creatures

Does the name Sharon Vaizer ring any bells? If not, it means you are a new breaker, so welcome aboard :)
Anyways, since graduating from design school back in 2009, Sharon took her graduation project, FUN-ta-sea, to the next level.
Her collection is plastic perfection!
If you ask me, any piece is a definite show stopper.
Just the other day I had the pleasure of trying it on, and boy do I LOVE it all.
Life under the sea never looked so friendly before.

Michal Oren | A Dash of Red Cuteness

  • Gold Cherry Ring
  • Gold Cherry Necklace
  • Golden Ladybug Necklace
  • Golden Ladybug Ring
The way I see it, the best things in life come in small packages and this time is no exception.
How sweet is the tiny cheery? and don’t let me start gashing about the cutie ladybug. Normally I’m all about larger than life accessories but sometimes all you need is a dash of red cuteness. I have a feeling that you are on board with me on this one ;) The only thing is, I can’t decide whether to go with the ring or the necklace.
FYI, Amalia Boutique, the site which is responsible for all this beauty, is coming your way straight from Tel Aviv with the latest Israeli creations. SO happy I discovered this goldmine :)

Dana Ben-Shalom | Blacking Out

“By avoiding color in it’s primal sense, I allow myself to dive into a whole world of sensitivities that enhance the material used, its depth, lights and shadows and the mystery and memories behind it.”
Black and white are by far my fave color combination! I can work it any day of the week. So… I can’t stress enough how happy I was while receiving this beauty by the much talented textile designer, Dana Ben-Shalom. I have a thing for textile designers. There is nothing wrong with that, right?
Oh, just one more thing, Dana’s Nature collection blew my mind! Colors and textures in full glory.

Student Break | Yael Nissan | Under The Sea

“Into The Wild” is Yael Nissan’s graduation project at the Jewelry Design Department of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design. While daydreaming (one of Yael’s favorite activities), she sails to her imaginary world containing her most hidden thoughts. A world full of mystery, magic, color, textures and details comes to life while Yael literary sleepwalks. In Yael’s eyes, her accessories aren’t silent, they keep living and breathing in her fantasy world.

Student Break | Naama Reich | Bleeding Nature

Next week will mark the beginning of the 2011 graduation parade here is Israel.
I was lucky enough to visit this year’s graduation final submissions at the Jewelry Design Department of Shenkar College. One of the projects that stood out the most was Naama Reich’s “Mixed emotions”.
Naama’s designed journey began at Alchimia, Italy, and continued here in Israel. “This project is near and dear to my heart, coming from the country side, my house… things which I have mixed feelings for. It’s kind of love-hate emotions that I poured into each and every piece.”

Keren ve Michal | Waterfall. Not the Watery One

Michal Nir, half of the “Keren ve Michal” duo, is the one responsible for these minimalistic necklaces. Michal, a trained fashion designer, had the urge to experiment with jewelry making. So, what does a fashion designer with no training do? She takes the first material on sight, in her case the one which she often uses as a bases for her clothing patterns and… After playing with geometrical shapes Michal got the perfect most desirable waterfall necklace ever! I can tell you just here and now, this is the only waterfall I need in my life! BTW, Keren ve Micha’s facebook page is a fun place to be in. You should check it out.

An’ka | Anna Mirkin | Glass Reality

  • Things you find on the street as a child | T-shirt
  • Swan math | T-shirt
  • Endless quest | T-shirt
  • Diamond horses| T-shirt
  • Things you find on the street as a child | T-shirt
Anna Mirkin, the gal behind An’ka, had nature museums in mind, while making her latest T-shirt collection. The fact that it captures flowers, birds and all kinds of animals behind glass made her reflect on life and the modern lifestyle with it’s conventions. Anna named it all “Natural history of you” and I must admit that it makes me appreciate her trying to deal with some heavy and emotional stuff while working on a T-shirt collection. Thank you for this one Anna!

World Break | Claire Cole | Wallpapers. The Dreamy Version

  • Wallpapers | Midnight Garden
  • Picture | Plain
  • Wallpapers | Midnight Garden
  • Accessories | Wallpaper Brooches
  • Behind The Scenes Look
Did you know one can transform walls into works of art? Well, Claire Cole sure knows how!
“Fragments of hand-sourced vintage wallpapers are layered and intricately embroidered with silks and leather to create a range of patterns and scenes.”
Can you imagine stitching and composing an entire wall like that?! It’s made crazy but crazy good ;)
I wish I could see the lady at work… I’m sure it’s a one of a kind experience.

Keren Taggar | Tel Aviv. A Jungle of Shoes

Keren Taggar is no stranger here at DesignBreak. It seems like I have a thing for Keren an her shoe drawings… There is no other way to explain this fascination.
Lately Keren was asked to draw the shoes for Couple Of’s 2011 Summer Collection.
I have to hand it to Shelly and Elon Satat-Kombor, the husband and wife team behind it all, who came up with this brilliant concept!
The inspiration behind the collection was Urban Jungle and Keren’s take was more domesticated. She had the porches of Tel-Aviv in mind while playing with her pencils.

Winter vs London

It’s April right?! I’m not wrong about that simple fact. So how come it feels like winter all over again?!
I hope that tomorrow the sun will come out and everything will be just like it supposed to be.
-
Till then, my sweetest readers, do you have British tips for me? I’d love to hear!
In two weeks I’ll be on my way to a fun vacation at my bestie’s home town, London!

Israelis@MilanDesignWeek | Jaim Telias | Playing With Leaves

When you take a close look at Jaim Telias’s Alè, you can get lost in all the lights and shadows. It feels like starring at a bright maze.
“Alè is a lamp composed of bi-dimensional modules inspired by the tree leaves. Bending creates 3D petals which generates an infinity of different forms while being joined into one. Thus, every lamp is different.”
If you want to see the lamp in a larger scale click right here.
BTW, Alè means leaf in Hebrew.

Israelis@MilanDesignWeek | Iris Zohar | Onion. Not What You’d Expect

“Where does a vase end and a flower begin?”
Each onion vase is a one-of-a kind solution that mirrors the variances occurring in nature.
I wish I could have a sea of onion vases on my dining table…
Well, First I need to have a dinning table ;)

World Break | Otchipotchi | Paula Valentim | Snow White

Paula Valentim is one of my favorite ceramist these days and I find it hard to believe that she has been creating only since 2009. Her white world is filled with leaves and stones. I can imagine Paula walking down her favorite trail in her back door forest and collecting her next idea.
There is nothing I’d like more than to have a wall of Otchipotchi Stones in my work room.
BTW, for her recent birthday, Paula made this lemon cake with chocolate leaves. I’m loving these leaves and have to share it with you just because.
