Moran Alhalel | Sail Away with Me
A week before our wedding day, the Mr.and I folded a hundred and fifty miniatured paper boats as our sitting placements… and you got it right, it was a Friday morning wedding by the beach and the theme was… well, the beach… with a few yellow duckies popping here and there… Anyways, I’m only sharing this unimportant information because since then, I hold a soft spot for miniatured origami boats and this leads me to Moran Alhalel and her… yes, origami boats. A while back I mentioned on my Facebook Page that my next apartment will follow the black and white theme and I know for sure that these boats or maybe these ones will be part of my new B&W world!

Pro-Ducks | Sitting on A Chocolate Banana Cloud
Not so long ago I interviewed Gil Sheffi and Yoav Avinoam for the Jerusalem Post and since then I keep coming back to their Pro-Ducks kingdom, as these two create even in their sleep. I guess this is the only way to explain everything that’s going on over there. While interviewing them, they showed me some images of Poli, their new lounge chair. It was created in collaboration with one of my all time favorite textile designers Mika Barr, which I wrote about more than once. I feel like this threesome is meant to be and I have a feeling that a few more pretty, origami like creations are in the making.

Student Break | Mulika Nir | The Circus has Arrived!
Mulika Nir and her Precious Little graduation project, is one of my greatest surprises from the 2012 graduation projects of the Jewelry Design Department at the Shenkar College.
When you mix massive accessories with bright colors and a playful touch, you get unlimited possibilities.
Mulika’s journey began with the circus but it seems like it was only the tip of the iceberg for her. My obsession is in full swing and I won’t be able to leave this brilliant creation behind till I put this yellow necklace around my neck.

Rami Tareef | Not Your Average Coffee Table
Now, that’s a brilliant concept! A coffee table turned into a sofa, how come I didn’t think of it before?!
Last year Rami Tareef’s COD project, was one of the most talked about graduate projects. Since then, I’ve been visiting his website, waiting to see what his next move will be… and apparently his next rad move is called Foldigon.
The inspiration came from the Japanese Bento box and “the contrast between the clean outer appearance to the inner richness of colors and textures.”
My only wish is that his next move will be a yellowish Foldigon.

Lital Mendel | To Fold or Not to Fold
Only a crazy person can be behind for all this beauty, and I mean that in a good way! Lital Mendel, the designer who is responsible for my love of folded rings, knows that I’ll follow her till death do us part or till she stops folding piles and piles of paper, whichever comes first. Her latest adventure goes by the name Just One More… and by the looks of it, Lital keeps saying this phrase over and over again.
Can you imagine yourself folding hundreds of units? I can’t! Thank god Lital has a knack for this kind of thing.

Ilan Garibi | Till Origami Do Us Part
Ilan Garibi is one of those guys that have to work with his hands 24/7. This dude folds and folds and folds paper till he drops. Well, at least that’s what it feels like.
One of Ilan’s latest collaborations was with Aqua Creations. He was responsible for all this mad folding and Ofir Zucker and Albi Serfaty were responsible for the design. The bright child is called Molecule.
You can read an interview with this mega crazy folder right here.
BTW, over the weekend I’m gonna visit Ilan’s brand new exhibition. Can’t wait!

A while back I wrote about Lital Mendel’s origami like rings. A year has gone by and Lital kept exploring more prints and textures. She came up with brand new rings that are the same but different ;)
I can’t get enough of these rings. Seriously! The next step is putting a folding ring around my finger. Till then, you’ll hear a lot more about it. That, I can promise you!

Israelis@MilanDesignWeek | Mika Barr | Dying Hard

Patience, I guess is the word for me, defines Mika Barr’s origami-like fabrics. I don’t know a lot of people who can dye, print, fold and breath all at the same time!
Well, if I were to study at the Textile Design Department at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, I guess I’d see it all over.
I remember gazing at these bigger then life fabrics for a very long time, while visiting the graduation exhibition of the class of 2009.
I forgot to mention that all this beauty is called folding A-part. You can read and see a lot more at designboom.

Liat Waldman | I Can’t Help It…

It only takes one hand to count my all time favorite visual heavens. Two of them are all things origami and silhouette. It can come in all sizes, shapes or forms.
Liat Waldman, whom I wrote about before, made me feel like a little girl in a candy shop with her to die for creation. I’m having a hard time choosing my favorite between these three…

Ruti’s Roots | Fold It All

I heard of people who fold whatever they can get their hand on, I guess this is the case here. No wonder Ruti is in the Occupational Therapy field. She has a lot of paitience, I can definitely tell you that. “In most recent years I have been drawn to the magic of folding recycled paper. This kind of art combines my passion for shaping and color-matching, with my love for nature, while attempting to preserve and reuse pre-existing materials.” As a gal who color matching is her bread and butter, Ruti’s creations cached my eye in a blink. Her Etsy Shop is a folded heaven!

Lital Mendel | Fold It Away

In her designs, Lital takes something familiar and changes it into something that will surprise and create new perspectives and interest. For example, she researched a lot the concept of a diamond ring and how she can represent a diamond in different ways. She deals with the memories that are stored within the jewelry and their translation into something visual.
I can’t wait to find one of these “diamond rings” out there!

Student Break | Aya Semo | Between the circle and the rhombus

I have a soft spot when it comes to designs that play with negative and positive space.
Aya’s space “between the circle and the rhombus” feels like an origami creation that made me want to spread it all and fold it back myself.

Aya is a 2010 graduate of the Jewelry Design Department of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.
