Dana Ben-Shalom | Blacking Out

“By avoiding color in it’s primal sense, I allow myself to dive into a whole world of sensitivities that enhance the material used, its depth, lights and shadows and the mystery and memories behind it.”
Black and white are by far my fave color combination! I can work it any day of the week. So… I can’t stress enough how happy I was while receiving this beauty by the much talented textile designer, Dana Ben-Shalom. I have a thing for textile designers. There is nothing wrong with that, right?
Oh, just one more thing, Dana’s Nature collection blew my mind! Colors and textures in full glory.

World Break | Pigeon Toe Ceramics | The Whitey Bunch

  • Rocking Votives
  • Notched Bowl
  • Scribble Tumbler
  • Banded Butter Dish
  • Folded Salt and Pepper Cellars
I’m gonna wrap this 4th of July parade with Lisa Jones and her Pigeon Toe Ceramics clan. This gal has respect for seasonal collections. For her S/S 2011 collection, a.k.a the most beautiful thing on earth right now, Lisa created a family of white perfection.
“Because memories should be created, not collected. Because life is too short to be surrounded by anything less than beautiful. Because design should be timeless and craft should be authentic. Because your objects tell a narrative. Your narrative.” {Lisa Jones}

Sharon Brunsher | Monochromatic Summer

Sharon Brunsher. Those two words mean perfection! I can’t think of any other Israeli designer that makes me feel like a kid in a candy store once I enter her monochromatic world of… well, perfection. I said it already!
Sharon’s Japanese version of the black and white summer collection is exactly what you would expect from a gal who knows how to turn a common concept into an extraordinary creation. I’m sure you all have seen more than once a black and white collection but I can garenty there is only one like Sharon Brunsher’s. Oh… one more thing, if I were you, I’d sign up to her Facebook page. You’ll thank me for this one.

World Break | Otchipotchi | Paula Valentim | Snow White

Paula Valentim is one of my favorite ceramist these days and I find it hard to believe that she has been creating only since 2009. Her white world is filled with leaves and stones. I can imagine Paula walking down her favorite trail in her back door forest and collecting her next idea.
There is nothing I’d like more than to have a wall of Otchipotchi Stones in my work room.
BTW, for her recent birthday, Paula made this lemon cake with chocolate leaves. I’m loving these leaves and have to share it with you just because.

Senseware | Fiber Crush

  • Nendo | Asahi Kasei Fibers Corporation | Blown Fabric
  • MintDesigns| Asahi Kasei Fibers Corporation | To Be Someone
  • Design Company Panasonic Corporation | Teijin Ltd. | Fukitorimushi
  • Antonio Citterio | Asahi Kasei Corporation | Moshi Moshi
This one is a little different.
Usually when I really want to visit a high profile exhibition I have to book a ticket to NYC or London. This time all I needed to do was to hop into my car and after no more than fifteen minute be a part of the Senseware’s white world.
As a designer, I really appreciate white space and there is no secret that the Japaneses really know how to rock white from head to toe.
The fact that it all happened to me in my home town Holon made it ever more special to me. Thank you dear Holon Design Museum for all this joy!
