Student Break | Liron Loval | Nailing It
Let me share a little secret with you: I’ve been following Liron Loval’s artistic foot steps since her first year student at the Jewelry Design Department at the Shenkar College. I know, it’s crazy! BUT as crazy as it is I felt like there is something special about this super talented girl, and now the time has come to share with you one of her latest creations.
Liron decided to experiment with wood and metal in the most obvious way so she chose nails and wood, however as you can see, the outcome in not nearly obvious (!!!)

World Break | byAMT | Wear Your Quilt
Sometimes I wish I could gather all my designer friends in one room and force them to share with me their best designer friends (hint, hint 9367845 designers I need to know off).
Thanks to my sweetest friend Ruta I bumped onto Alissia Melka-Teichroew‘s oh-so-heavenly byAMT world of accessories! To me, Alissia’s Quilt Collection is the real deal. While using 3D Printing, she manages to transform and bring to life the most amazing textured jewelry out there. When your starting point is a quilt and you end up with this rad accessories the world is your oyster!

Tesler+ Mendelovitch | Wood You?
Tesler+ Mendelovitch are Orli Tesler and Itamar Mendelovitch. These two are a creative couple, who are making their first steps in the design scene and it seems like they are here to stay. While still in design school, they began creating wooden diamonds and since then wood is all they care about! You won’t hear any complaints from this side of the screen, since they moved on to wooden textiles… Since I first bumped into their wooden clutches all I want to do is hold one in my hands…

Student Break | Alan Zarczynski | A Wooden Jurassic Park
Boy do I miss playing with dolls! I mean, I know I can, but it would be super weird…
In Alan Zarczynski’s Vertebratoys “the wooden vertebrae simulate the volume and attributes of the animal, while the rope simulates the properties of the muscles and joints that support the animal. Their connection provides the unique flexibility that enables the assembly of a variety of different dinosaurs.”
It’s quite a wooden Jurassic Park ;)
FYI, Alan is a 2012 graduate of the Industrial Design Department at the Bezalel Academy.

NORITAMY | Wooden Candy
I was planning on waiting until I get a full preview of Noritamy’s latest wooden collection, but you know me, I can’t really wait.
The minute I discovered that the great minds behind Anthropologie share my love for this super cool mother-daughter duo, I jumped up and down in my chair. How amazing is that wooden necklace?! I can picture myself wearing it around my neck… Oh well, I better start saving…
Now, you can read my One on One with the two, or you can wait for a later post filled with all things NORITAMY. Your choice!

Dania Chelminsky | Sea of Trimmed Rings
When I stumble, by mistake, upon an amazing piece of jewelry, my heart misses a beat. When a jewelry also serves as a piece of art that you can put on your drawer and just look at it for hours, that’s really special!
It’s been two years since I first shared with you Dania Chelminsky’s world. And now, I’m super excited to introduce you to her “‘Mended 240″ solo exhibition at “Periscope Gallery” in Tel Aviv.
“Dania looks at the trimmed branches. Each cut stump inspires her to begin the process of mending. Working directly with the material, creates a pattern in which every organ is different…”

Bakery | Riding the Wooden Slope
The power couple Gilli Kuchik and Ran Amitai (aka Bakery) is one of my fav Israeli duos! There I said it :)
Their latest adventure is called Woodini, which made me like it from the gecko. Maybe the fact that a few days ago I visited Tokyo Disneyland, is what’s causing me to imagine roller coasters wherever I go and that is exactly what I see in this super cool stool. You can read all the serious technical details behind it right here but in the meanwhile leave it to me to enjoy the ride!
PS, I hope you see what I see… I don’t want you to think I have serious issues ;)

Shiri Hyman | Bag It!
Shiri Hyman lives in a world of her own… It’s like she doesn’t need anyone other than her super wicked brain! Seriously, whenever I bump into her designs, I know they all have the Hyman’s magical touch. It’s like she puts her spell on things… A while back I saw her uber chic woodish bags and since then I wanted to share them with you. Luckly for me, just the other day I bumped into them while visiting Marmelada. BUT, the bad news is, shiri decided that it was time to move on to other exciting fields which involve home decor, the Hyman style. All that is left to do is wish her lots of luck while remembering the good times we shared ;)

Asaf Weinbroom | Bright Wood
Last week I shared with you my interview with Asaf Weinbroom but that won’t stop me from sharing with you his latest wooden adventure, Fervency. You can trust this wicked guy to come up with new and exciting ways to use wood in a chic and elegant way.
As I told you before, I’m not a big fan of wooden items but there is something endearing and different in Asaf’s way of thinking and definitely in the way he executes his initial ideas. What amazes me the most is the fact that his final design is practically identical to his sketch, or maybe it’s only my gut feeling ;)

Student Break | Michael Tsinzovsky | Local Design

  • Asli | A Laser Cut Veneer Stool
  • Coexistence | Metal vs. Wood
  • Asli | A Family of Stools
“Local Design” is a shot in the right direction for a new set of ideas. Coexistence of society and nationalities, ornament and construction, craft and design, metal and wood, east and west, geography and nationality. Michael Tsinzovsky, a graduate of the Industrial Design Department at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, had almost an impossible task at hand. “A young country without long tradition of arts and crafts, that tries to be European in the center of the Middle East”, it’s quite surprising he didn’t get lost along the way.

World Break | Edgar Mosa | Wooden Statment

Well, you probably won’t belive it, but this is a first here at DesignBreak.
Two posts, one designer, published only a few seconds apart. What can I say, I can’t help myself!
I had to take a step back and share with you Edgar Mosa’s 2010 “Month Three”.
“Trees are like people – its not like you can just walk up to them and expect to get along.” Can’t argue with Edgar’s statement, but now you understand why I just couldn’t write about his intriguing world just once. Right?

World Break | Edgar Mosa | Mosatural

When my dear friend, Ruta Reifen, mentioned the name Edgar Mosa I didn’t have a clue who he was. So, as I do best, I began digging and oh boy, I fell in love!
Edgar is a 2011 MA graduate at the Cranbrook Academy of Arts, Michigan, USA and his graduation project, “The Mountain”, is so refreshing and one of a kind! I don’t really know what to say except OMG!
Natural materials never looked so sophisticated and ready to wear.

NORITAMY | Golden Wood

Tammar and Elinor have a special place in my stylish heart. The two can take just about any ordinary material and turn it into a spectacular collection.
Their journy with wooden beads started a while back at one of their many ventures. The girls had the patience to wait for the right moment to introduce a stunning line of beaded scarfs with a dash of their geometric mark. But that’s not all, they continued with carving, by hand, rings and bracelets to whom they added goldish leafs like icing on a cake. Seriously, I can’t keep my eyes of this work of art!

Miklum Studio | Oh Frank

What could you do with some old wooden cabinets and doors? I guess that if you are part of the Miklum gang you’ll think about a modular system. Right?! By modularity they mean, you can add or replace Frankies as you like till you get the perfect mix. Combining the cubes into shelves, partition, benches, TV cabinet and the list go on and on… BTW, the blocks are mostly unaltered and so reflect the natural condition of the original raw material. They really captured the old and new in a unique and fun way.
FYI, “Miklum” means “From Scratch” in Hebrew.

Asaf Weinbroom | Dress Your Lamp

  • WAF Limited
  • WAF Light
Have you seen the latest addition to the WAF family?
It looks like a take on the Tux Jacket. Then again, I have a habit of imagening things when it comes to Asaf Weinbroom’s creations ;)
