Asaf Weinbroom | Munchkin Crush

Asaf has an imaginative mind, I have to hand it to him! His latest creation is the WAF Light, which reminds me of a little munchkin or maybe my imagination is going too far? It won’t be a first for me.
This light fixture is a table lamp built from two pieces of maple veneer that are simply folded and buttoned together.

Shay Carmon and Ben Klinger “don’t want to make the world a better place. We want to make it more interesting” and there sure do!
The guys designed a series of shelves with a twist. Not your ordinary place to lean your books on but rather a place for your favorite books will feel special and unique.
FYI, “Ve” means “And” in Hebrew.

Nir Meiri | Wooden Safari

I’ve been following Nir’s footsteps for a while now. He has an effortless touch in his designs and a wicked mind.
Nir’s “Jungle Clocks” made me think about my childhood. Back then it was all about the simple materials and wooden shapes who played a big role in my playground haven.

Noga is a 2010 graduate of the Industrial Design Department of Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.
Her “Tunnels – Encompassing Furniture” is a series of furniture that explore private places inside of household furniture. “Just as a cat seeks out hiding places or small spaces to slip into, I wanted to create furniture that can encompass all or parts of the human body. I created human-scale objects that can be used for lying down, sitting and storage.”
One of Noga’s main influences for this project was the Danish designer Ditte Hammerstrom.

Asaf Weinbroom | Wood You?

I’m not a big fan of wooden objects, but Asaf’s light fixtures made me reconsider.
Maybe it’s just me, but I saw a little creature in each of the pieces.
It made me fall in love with them.
If we have to return to reality “Asaf’s decision to use wood, a renewable resource, creates a sense of natural one-of-a-kind look, warmth, and most importantly emphases high-end handmade craftsmanship. This is what gives the items a unique appearance, feeling and value.”

Alon Dodo | Light Wood

Alon Dodo’s work is one of a kind.
“Alon believes in the pure beauty of the wood and lets it speak for itself. He likes to combine chaos and symmetric forms together.”
Head to his wood kingdom.

I didn’t think recycled objects can look so chic! The guys from Ubico studio say that their materials come from dumpsters, construction sites and the streets of Tel Aviv. Their work is about urban gathering and reclaiming. I think it’s time for me to start opening my eyes for new possibilities!

When I arrived to the sixth floor at the Museum of Arts and Design I was amazed to find Itamar’s sculptures.
All I could say was WOW!
His sculptures are constructed from tens and often hundreds of layers of wood or cardboard using topographical model techniques. I have to admit that I stood there for a long time and just gazed…

Michelle Sebbag | The quest for perfection

  • Ring: Silver, wood
  • Pendant: Silver, wood
  • Ring: Silver, wood, turmaline
  • Pendant: Silver, gold, cotton
  • Ring: Gold
  • Bracelet: Silver, gold
I like Michelle’s way of thinking. She doesn’t sketch before she begins working on a piece and as she says ” I begin with a thought. The process and the materials allow me to translate that thought into something tangible”. I’m drawn to the fact that in Michelle’s pieces there is a thin line between a jewel and a sculpture.
You should definitely visit her klimt02 page.

Studio Mechanica | Yaarit Mechany | Cubed

I just love Yaarit’s Cubed drawers! What a great idea to conceal the existence of the drawers!
Yaarits says that “The furnishings were born from the desire to create objects that reflect a different approach and a unique aesthetic”. Well, I have to say that she did an excellent job!
